Been wanting to own a Galaxy Z Fold ever since it first came out in 2019 (it was a mess back then), so I saved up for nearly four years (in addition to borrowing some money from family and friends) to buy a Z Fold5 September yesterday. It was for my 23rd birthday, a little self reward every now and then is good for my mental health. So I've been using the Z Fold5 for almost two months now, and here's my experience and review of it so far.
Being an office worker who relies heavily on my phone for docs and stuff, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 is a total game-changer. The big 7.6-inch screen lets me juggle multiple tasks easily, though I don't have the S Pen as it's sold separately. My go-to for productivity is the Multi-Active Windows feature. Splitting the screen into three apps lets me jump around effortlessly. For instance, I can have Word on one side, Excel on the other, and a browser in the middle for quick references. Flex Mode is another gem. It props the phone at a half-folded angle, perfect for note-taking in meetings or watching presentations hands-free. And yeah, selfies or video calls? Easy peasy with Flex Mode.
Besides work stuff, the Fold5 rocks for entertainment too. The large display is a dream for movie lovers. PUBG Mobile? Yeah, it's a blast on the Fold5 – better view, easier control. All in all, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 gets a big thumbs up from me. It's the go-to for office folks who want a phone that's both a workhorse and a fun companion.
The big inner display on the Fold5 makes viewing and editing a breeze. Full-page docs? No problem. Multiple columns in a spreadsheet? I see it all without squinting. The Fold5's screen and power make gaming a delight. Clear visuals, smooth gameplay, and gamer-friendly features like Game Mode. Fold5's cameras deliver quality shots in various lighting. The folding design adds a cool angle to your pics. The big display and awesome speakers make it a binge-watcher's dream. Hours of shows without straining your eyes? Check.
I do however need some time to adapt with the narrow front (cover) screen. I don't have big fingers, but typing on the cover screen feels awkward. Also, Samsung only offered 25W charging on the Fold5, but at least Samsung baked in a helpful wireless charging feature and its battery can go for a whole day with a lot of juice left. Its biggest disadvantage is obvious, the price. It's also rather exotic so I'm a little wary of using it in crowded public places like the bus, subway, train etc. And I only use it when I think my surroundings are safe. It does turn heads, a lot of heads, for better or worse, and arouses people to ask me about my Fold5.
Alas, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 is a powerhouse – perfect for work and play. It's totally recommended.

I enjoyed my flip3, but the screen started creasing at the fold after about a year of heavy use. Ended up going to a pixel 8 pro. If the flexible OLED displays had better durability, I would go back to the flip or the fold.
The crease still remains on the Fold5, but on the positive side, when it's fully closed, it's totally flat. The Fold4 has this gap between the screens when covered that debris could enter. I also try to minimize closing and opening the folding screen to less than 10 times a day. Samsung says the folding hinge mechanism is good for 200,000 folds for 5 years.
The mechanism was solid, it never failed on me, just the soft OLED. Debris wasn't a huge issue for me, even after taking the screen protector off when that wore out, it never saw any scratches of burs from and pocket debris. They are amazing tech pieces, I'm just hoping for something that'll be more durable in the future
