Life in the desert wastes of New Laramidia is harsh and unforgiving. No one makes it there without connections.
For velociraptors, who rove in packs, this is rarely a problem—unless you’re a velociraptor who got kicked out of your pack, which Luke has.
Regardless of his youth and isolation, Luke is experienced. A perpetual wilderness drifter, he knows the Wastes like the back of his talons. He knows all the best hiding spots. All the places to lie in wait for unwary travelers in the saddles of their hadrosaur mounts.
That’s how he met Henry, actually. The anky gave him a good trashing, but ultimately decided not to kill him.
This was both a blessing and a curse to the ankylosaur. While Henry knows the location of long-lost treasures, he’s too big and slow to navigate the traps that plague forgotten ruins. Luke, on the other hand, has often seen those treasures, but needs someone strong in his corner to protect him from other takers.
But as we've witnessed, Luke isn’t above becoming the “other taker” when the opportunity presents itself. One of these days the raptor will wind up with a bullet lodged in his hyoid, once his peskiness finally outweighs his usefulness…
Scruffy, scheming, duplicitous, cunning, impulsive, and greedy. Luke survives by quick reflexes, audacious lies, and sheer pluck. He can be charming, pathetic, or ruthless as the situation dictates. If he's dogging your footsteps, you can bet you have something he wants.
He's also vain and superficial. Thankfully he seems to be coming around to realizing that he'll never be a world-trotting treasure hunter, famous for his exploits. His remaining "goal" in life is simply to become rich enough that he can lie back and indulge his ravenous appetites for food and sex. As it is, few people are willing to waste either on him.
They tend to be numerous, short, tumultuous and parasitic. He hates commitment. He's not loyal. But he'll pretend to be if he thinks it will pay off.
He used to be part of a bandit pack, but even his fellow raptors thought he couldn't be trusted. Surviving on his own has only taught him to be even craftier.
He's been seen hanging around Henry lately. More often than not he shows up when the hunger pangs start biting. Henry is similar to Luke in certain ways: they're both lone, amoral wasteland wanderers. But Henry is also closer to Luke's "world-trotting treasure hunter" ideal than he ever was. Unlike Luke, Henry actually makes off with the shiny treasures. He forces Luke to do the (literally) dirty work in exchange for a few scraps, but the work gets done.
Is Luke just hanging in his shadow, waiting for a big score of his own? Is he sticking with him for protection? Or is he simply afraid of him?
What does he get out of being the "ferret" in this relationship?
He's a feathered theropod. His plumage is dull, shaggy, unpreened, and probably ridden with lice. Two little plumes on his snout form a "mustache." He has some male pattern feather baldness setting in.
Luke is a "knife guy" in a world where everyone seems to have a gun. His bowie knife is his pride and joy, although his sickle talons can do just as much damage. Don't underestimate him when he's armed with both.
Although he will wear clothing if the circumstances call for it, he typically goes without, instead relying on an assortment of pouches and belts to carry the things he needs.
He smokes. Hand-rolled cigarettes with very cheap tobacco.
He has a nasty scar on his neck from a deep gash that was inflicted on him some time ago. Velociraptors tend to go for the jugular, and it looks like somebody tried to go for his. He hides it underneath a bandana, for good reason—you don't want to walk around with a big sign advertising what people have done and can do to you.
No self-respectful wasteland dweller or treasure hunter can go without his hat. Luke's headgear not only shields him from the sun and the rain, but it also hides his receding featherline.
If Henry and Luke remind you in any way of two other people, I invite you to inspect Luke's "timeline resonance designator" above. You may exist in other worlds and not even recognize yourself.

Only raptor-dino-cowboy can be better than dino-cowboy. Cool.

I for once dont wanna boop a troublemaker. He may make haste in taking my nails off my finger and sell them for a meal. *the characters of mine have rare elements embedded and developed into their biology. You know how organs irl cost a lot? Well. Multiply that. My characters getting ganged up on by scavengers would be a VERY bad day.
