Justice Jobbers: Indigo aka Blue Devil
A victim of genetics roulette, long dormant "daemonspawn" traits came to the forefront over the course of Indigo's development. Faced with the reality of what had been legend and bedtime stories for generations, Indigo's parents were ill equipped to raise a child going through changes they couldn't begin to understand.
When he turned 12 bad became worse with puberty wreaking havoc and Indigo's parents were reaching the end of their rope as abilities began to manifest in addition to his physical abnormalities they struggled to camouflage. Finally it was agreed that his maternal side great uncle would unofficially adopt Indigo and raise him according to the archaic Onyx Moon theology the family so often teased him for following so faithfully. Due to vague wording of the passages his uncle neglected to mention that Indigo's birth potentially lined up with a branch of prophecy predicting that he along with three others would be the ones tasked with keeping the Great Serpent dormant, essentially pressing the snooze button on Armageddon.
The Onyx Moon order's training and meditation techniques were exactly what Indigo needed to reign in his wild impulses and gain control of his developing abilities. However, the prophecy didn't give much in the way of a timeframe, and despite the order's invaluable help, Indigo wasn't exactly fulfilled living in a remote temple just waiting to possibly be 1/4 of a band of saviors. On his 23rd birthday Indigo would not be moved from his conviction that a possibly defunct prophecy was not enough reason to ignore the life he could be having out in the world given the opportunity. His uncle couldn't argue with the logic that keeping Indigo hidden away could be the very thing impeding the chain reaction that would see Indigo fulfill his purpose. Stifling his reservations his uncle gave his blessing on the condition that Indigo swear fealty to the order if they were to call on him in the future.
His daemon nature does have considerable effects even with his much improved control. Nobody outside of his family and the order know his original birth name before he took on the Indigo identity and Blue Devil moniker, inspired by vestigial paranoia from the days of sword and sorcery when knowing a name could grant total control over a spiritual entity. His blue and black form fitting costume closely resembles Indigo's actual skin, making it an easy sell that the horns and spade-tipped tail were merely costume components on the rare occasion that the general public gets a good look at him. Not requiring much in the way of sustenance he leads a roaming lifestyle never really setting deep roots in any one place. While not an official member of the Justice Jobbers Indigo often crosses paths with them especially when the corrupted Shadowstep clan resurfaces.
Indigo's daemon is essentially it's own entity within Indigo's psyche; an impulsive and bratty prankster, it often comes at odds with the clear minded focus of the Onyx Moon's principles and credo. Sometimes forgetting himself Indigo will verbally chastise his other side, getting odd glances from people not aware of his situation. In moments of high anxiety or emotion the daemon will "take over" for lack of a better term like a bad habit or nervous tick. The outcome when this happens is about 50/50 split either resolving the issue or making it much worse than it should have been.
Indigo's powers grew along with him during his time training at the temple. With their instruction he can now teleport anywhere he can picture in his mind. It helps if he's been there before, but the farther he travels the more draining and it takes at the very least a moment of focused concentration. He can do this silently with barely a breeze signaling his departure or a bright blue flare if he's feeling theatric. Distractions have resulted in all sorts of screw ups ranging from teleporting right into traps, traveling several feet straight up only to fall victim to gravity, once even literally reappearing in the same spot just in time to eat a knockout punch He can melt into shadow becoming invisible and intangible if he chooses and can share the effect with anyone/thing he touches. His eyes are especially sensitive in this state so if light hits him directly his vision is hobbled and he looks like a faint silhouette gleaming a soft blue until he finds shadow again or rematerializes. He can conjure and manipulate blue flame in his hands, not able to throw it like a projectile however he can concentrate it for precision or engulf his whole hand for a broader burn effect. His gloves have retractable claws sharp enough to cut diamond and he was extensively trained in several disciplines of armed combat.
The daemon's impulsiveness isn't always so blatant, manifesting as overconfidence. Despite his training to watch and wait for opportunity, Indigo will sometimes rely on his powers to get him through whatever might be waiting for him. This of course rarely works out in his favor especially if his arrival is anticipated.
