I've been sitting on this story for a long, long time. Am hoping to have it all voice acted out later on when I'm able and the story is done. This will be part 1!~

Tyrant's Reign is about a Rynar soldier, Private Namaeo, who is pulled from guard duty aboard a space station and thrust into a war. Forced to miss his daughters hatch day. He was sectioned with Battlemaster Jailthar, at Rock Hill, on the edge between North and South Carolina. Been hinting it for a time now, but this story, alongside Blue On Blue, Hearts And Minds, and Of Mice And Men, are all interconnected :3

Minutes passed like hours while Namaeo trekked along. The woods weren't challenging to rummage through, but it occurred to him and the five with him how easily humans could hide in ambush. They all remained quiet, fearful of unseen assailants.
"Battlemaster Jailthar, come in? Private Namaeo reporting! Sector Nine is a dead zone! The entire city is gone, no sign of Rynar's occupation!"
Namaeo hissed quickly into his helmet, his eyes trailing black smoke forming in the sky. Just as they crested another hill, the young Rynar man's eyes went wide. An entire human city was demolished beyond recognition. Corpses of Rynar soldiers were strewn about. Many with bloodied or blown open chests.
Static filled his helmet, and Namaeo turned his eyes to their team of six. They'd been sent out to investigate the sudden silence from their ground communication relay. They'd assumed it was some technical issue, but seeing the devastation left all the Rynar on edge. Looking at his commander, he tapped his helmet again.
"Battlemaster Jailthar, copy? Over."
Namaeo's attention snapped up as he heard the voice of his immediate commander. As they'd gotten closer to the decimated city, they found what appeared to be a human holdout point.
They all took careful steps towards the camp, yellow eyes scanning the destruction. The human military was on everyone's mind, confirmed by a destroyed and smoldering metal box in the middle of the camp. Its turret was gone, blown out as if the box had exploded.
"Battlemaster Jailthar, human military forces have been here. It appears they've been destroyed; copy? Over."
A young Rynar, their engineer Ristach, knelt down as he hissed.
"Ristach tastes a human... One was here recently, not the same as these."
Namaeo nodded, eyeing the destruction. It was a pale comparison to the destroyed city, but it struck him as odd that there were no bodies. Had they all been incinerated? Rynar wouldn't offer mercy to human military forces, but something felt off about the display.
The squadron commander walked up behind Namaeo, patting his back as they hissed.
"Word from Battlemaster Jailthar?"
Namaeo was about to respond before a screech of wind filled the air. The Rynar squadron watched in horror as a Union drop ship began evasive maneuvers high in the sky. Trailed by two tiny dark specks.
The vessel's back end abruptly erupted, detonating and forcing the vehicle into a crash course. The two specks split off, one turning towards the Rynar group.
Namaeo froze up as smoke trailed from the odd machine. Suddenly, the ground lit up with a violent flurry of bullets. Falling back, he barely heard his squadron commander yell out an attack order. Before, a hundred tiny bullets tore into his armor.
Their squadron commander fell over, clutching his chest. It wasn't instantly fatal, but seeing the second speck turn around, Namaeo forced himself up. Gasping as stims were pumped into his body from his suit's active system. Their commander raised his arm with a yell.
"-Agh! Fall back! What Emperess-forsaken machine is that?!"
Namaeo ducked down, tucking his arm under his commander's elbow. Three of the squadron took aim, but their orange bolts flew too wide to hit their targets. The specks, seemingly taunting, would round again. Splitting up to take on the Rynar group.
Helping his commander to their feet, they quickly fell back into the woods. Though the tiny trees offered no protection. Soon, another flurry of bullets shredded through the woods. Namaeo forced himself to go faster.
Turned when he heard a yell; one of the squadrons had been grazed. Only for a screeching metal dart to spiral through the air following the barrage. Namaeo felt his face grow pale as he watched the Rynar erupt in an explosive flash. Splattering blood across the ground as they fell over dead. Namaeo, spurred on by this, called into his comms.
"Battlemaster Jailthar! Come in! We are under attack!"
Namaeo stumbled, hearing another screech in the air as the specks rounded again. His commander grabbed him and, with a shout, threw Namaeo to the side. Both watched as the ground flared with bullets between them.
Scrambling for his rifle, Namaeo grabbed his rifle and drew aim, eyeing one of the impossibly fast specks. His helmet HUD attempted to lock onto the tiny vehicle but failed to tag it properly.
Firing a burst of three shots, he watched the orange Erestal fly behind the vehicle. He growled and turned his rifle, holding the trigger and feeling the repeating gentle kickback of the rifle. Praying to the God-Matriarch as his rifle sprayed Erestal bolts towards the speck.
The speck rounded again, now aiming almost directly at Namaeo. The world slowed as he continued firing. Angling his rifle higher, the time between shots seemed to take longer and longer.
Watching the speck emit a tiny cloud of smoke, he gasped as it exploded violently when one of his shots hit its dead center. The other Rynar had taken up aim as well, but Namaeo felt something was wrong. He took a breath as everything froze around him. Adrenaline rose, and the sound of the speck's guns replayed in his mind.
His commander, clutching their chest, called out to Namaeo, but the Rynar private couldn't discern the words. Namaeo was frozen in place, and suddenly, bullets erupted up his leg and arm. Tearing through his armor with ease.
Dropping down, Namaeo screamed out in pain. Closing his eyes, ringing filled his ears. His HUD went full red alert, and he barely registered when it warned him of a dosage shot. Feeling a needle injected into him, he inhaled sharply from a rapidly expanding coldness through his body.
His HUD was flashing with communications from his commander, but the ringing made it impossible to hear. Namaeo groaned in pain, opening his eyes to see the other speck turning around.
Just as the second would do another run, it was shot down. But not without another of the Rynar soldiers erupting in bullets. The hellish ripping sound of the speck gun followed after the bullets had torn through the Rynar's chest, running up before shattering through their visor.
Namaeo felt a heavy hand grab his chest, pulling him to the side as an orange light flashed across his face. His ears still rang with the ripped buzzing from the speck's guns. Replaying again and again in his mind.
His commander grabbed him, motioning for another soldier over. Disconnecting Namaeo's chest plate, they were relieved to see it offered some level of protection. Stripping off his damaged arm plating, the medic of their group quickly got to work. Checking Namaeo's suit to see what it injected him with before going to bandage the wound.
Namaeo's skin was bruised; some shrapnel from his armor had dug into him. But the bullets had failed to penetrate his chest. The Private was only pulled back to reality when the gravel voice of his Battlemaster entered his helmet.
"-UTO troops suspected! Comms are not to be used! Delta team return!"
Namaeo's tongue fuzzed in his mouth, but he tapped his helmet to send an acknowledgment ping to his Battlemaster. The medic leaned off, saying something to their squadron commander that Namaeo couldn't distinguish. After a moment another soldier came; they and the medic would help Namaeo up onto his feet. Letting him lean on them as they began a trek back. Turning his eyes to the Rynar he was leaning onto, he struggled to speak.
None of the bullets had pierced all the way through his armor. But his entire chest burned fiery hot. The Rynar's gaze met his, and she hissed reassurance to him.
Namaeo's gaze flickered up to the skies, hardly registering the woman's words. Had the humans demolished their own city? The harrowing realization burned in the man's mind. Humans were indeed savages.
They'd rather destroy themselves than submit to capture. Namaeo quivered as he looked back to the city with a mix of fear and disgust. He knew his suit wouldn't let him speak his mind at times, but a single thought permeated the man's mind as he was limping, held in the arms by a battle-sister.

I've always loved how the Rynar's invasion of Earth eventually boiled down to "YOU PICKED THE WRONG HOUSE, FOOL!"
Very much so, Earth53. Thank the stars they didn't invade Earth69
Savages? Maybe Namaeo should take a good look at what his comrades are doing to humans in “The Zone”
He’ll see who the real “savages” are.
He’ll see who the real “savages” are.
Filthy stinky hoomans picking on super awesome niceness of Rynar!
(Don't worry, he'll learn~)
(Don't worry, he'll learn~)
He’ll learn and be very ashamed and maybe start questioning The Collective’s operation here.
I've always wondered since reading Hetzer's story, if the Rynar were experiencing any radiation sickness or ill effects from the use of DU ammo in MBT's or the GAU-8. I mean would a Rynar be effected by materials like that being left inside their body? Say similar to Polonium poisoning of the ol' KGB poison air gun pellet.
Most likely, but I won't be delving much into that here. Namaeo got very lucky, and survived the gunfire
Lizard boy needs to watch who he calls savage, considering the zone.
Oh my. So Namaeo is Oonka's father and husband/mate to Mihicha. Wow, we finally got to see and read about him.
I hope Namaeo will survive this war to see his beloved wife and daughter. Plus, I am just amazed at the amount of terror and chaos the humans had put onto the Rynars because at first reading the other stories about them, it sounded like they were tough, powerful, and almost unstoppable, however after reading this, I am shocked to read the amount of dead Rynars there were, and how their technology can be damaged or destroyed just as easily as our technology.
You'll be amazed at the power kinetic weapons can have. Though the Rynar do their own destruction too, that comes later
Interesting, I can't wait to read about that. Because with your stories, you are almost giving us a real-life war, where we can sense and feel the actions from both sides of it. Like when I was reading this, I felt amazed to see Rynars were killed in the way they were described. Plus seeing the destroyed city and learning that it was the humans who caused it, adds more depth to the horror.
I try to do one major thing with my stories, to show that everyone is a victim of circumstance. There's no pure good or evil
And in truth, you are right. The soldiers from either side were just following orders, rather its to protect or to harm. In which you got that just right from both ends.
Do have the next part written, looking for proof readers on it. Would you be interested?
Another great story from you! just in time to read while I still recover from this christmas cold!
I was reading this to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cxwmgaYAgc as the jets turned to attack Namameo´s group. You certainly made humans look terrifying from the Rynar perspective!
keep it up Piershey! *hugs*

Thanks! Hoping to have another out soonish! Have it written, just trying to get proof reads on it
Always love seeing the Rynar perspective of the war. Nice start to a new part of this story.
As ever, amazing work from an amazing writer.
You know, I’m still tempted to write a AU where the Rynar won, and subjugated humanity… maybe have some become refugees trying to escape via pirate smuggling to UTO for a better life..
Only to have their furious Rynar owners hot on their heels for trying to escape…

Yeah, it would be long-winded and very dark. Not sure how it would work. There are loads of ideas that can be inspired by Hetzer‘s work.
I can’t wait for more stories from you.
I can’t wait for more stories from you.
Another story should be out semi soon. Been working on a fantasy universe for a long while now. And hopefully will post a story in it soon alongside my UTO stuff
Hetz has never full on said that my stories are canonized, but I've pestered him constantly for insight into the war itself. On their official Discord he also pinged me out specifically when talking about during-war stories :3
It's simple really, you invade Earth you get the Brrt. Also was that Alice's dropship?
