Kinda surprising, but it's actually been quite a while since I've gotten something with Aladar and Delga.
Navine was doing a really cute YCH, and it just screamed these two, so I got it, and man is it lovely~
Also been a bit since I've sat down and written something. It's not as long as my other works, but I still took a couple hours to write it.
Also, this takes place very early in their relationship, hence their OG designs~

It was dark…
He had to keep walking though, as staying still wasn’t safe.
“...”
The dragon knew he couldn’t walk forever, but it didn’t stop him.
“I have to keep going…”
Delga, the red dragon amnesiac, continued to walk and walk. He didn’t know where he was going, as it was all darkness around him, but stopping wasn’t an option.
“He’s waiting for me…”
Someone was.
The dragon was actually confused as to who this person was that was waiting for him. It wasn’t Leo, Minotaur, and definitely not Kuromaru; as if he would give himself to them. He didn’t know of anyone who cared for him, but something about this person really meant something.
“If I keep walking, I know I’ll reach him.”
The floor was gross and slimy, and for some reason, he felt like he was missing a pair of boots that were supposed to be on his feet. But just like this supposed person he’s walking to, he didn’t know why he felt that way, as he didn’t feel as if he owned a pair.
That didn’t stop him though.
His green eyes were dull, but they kept looking ahead at the non-existant path.
As we walked, he noticed that he was devoid of fear. He was devoid of all emotion, but it puzzled him as to why that was, as fear and despair was all he knew, and being without it almost felt odd.
“I think… I think I-”
Delga blinked, and when he did, a bright light caused him to flinch, and the darkness that surrounded him completely vanished and was replaced with a living room bathed in the afternoon sun. What was once nothing was now him sitting on a couch, cream walls, windows and a TV surrounded him, as well as the view of the kitchen.
And of course, the Zangoose that was sleeping on his lap.
Light returned to his eyes as his memories flowed back to him.
“Huh, I guess I dozed off…”
He sighed a little and looked down at the Zangoose peacefully sleeping on him.
“Aladar…”
Part of him wanted to cry and wrap his arms around his Zangoose, but he didn’t want to wake his friend.
It was all coming back to him.
Before they ended up dozing off, the dragon had finally confessed his past to the smaller male.
Memories of what seemed like a few hours ago began replaying in his head.
xXOOOOXx
“I feel like you’ll hate me if I tell you!”
The dragon had tears running down his face as he buried his face into his hands.
“I really want to tell you. I really do, but I just want to forget that it ever happened! It hurts so much…”
“But Delga…” Aladar said, placing his hand on the dragon’s shoulder. “If you keep it to yourself, you’ll never start feeling better. You need to tell me what happened to you back in that world. I can tell that keeping it from me isn’t helping you a single bit. I trust that you’re not hiding anything from me, but I feel like I’ll never really be able to truly understand you until you do.”
His Zangoose was right.
Though Delga wasn’t a bad person, not telling Aladar what he’s been through felt like he was always hiding something. He didn’t want to talk about it, but at the same time, he couldn’t stop the feeling of guilt in him that was being closed about it.
He wished it would just all go away.
“And Delga…”
His thoughts were interrupted as the smaller male continued.
“You know that I could never hate you…”
Aladar gave a soft smile, one that didn’t help Delga feel any less guilty.
“I can tell that you’ve been hurt and abused, Delga…” Aladar continued. “The way that you act makes that clear, but you can trust me… right?”
The dragon hated that he couldn’t just say yes without hesitation.
Aladar meant the world to him, and even after helping him so much, the seeds of doubt continued to grow and snare his heart to no end.
“Y-Yeah…”
Though that wasn’t the truth, Delga would refuse to deny his Zangoose. At times it felt like he only said that because he owed Aladar so much, and he detested that it couldn’t be the full truth.
Aladar’s hand moved from the dragon’s shoulder to his hand.
“Then tell me. It doesn’t matter what happened to you, abuse isn’t your fault, and I’ll never think less of you.”
Delga wiped the tears from his eyes, even if they were still flowing.
He let out a sad chuckle.
“Heh… A weak and pathetic dragon like myself doesn’t deserve someone like you…”
“I think the strong dragon who seems to have endured quite a bit and is still alive and here might.”
Aladar’s response was nice, though Delga wished he could agree.
He sighed once again, finally getting his tears to stop for the time being.
“But… Will you really think the same after I tell you?” He asked, sighing again, and composing himself.
As much as he hated to admit it, he did feel like he had what it took to finally tell the Zangoose, even if he wished with all his heart that he could keep it to himself.
Aladar nodded.
“I want nothing more than you to tell the truth. I know you’re a lot stronger than you make yourself out to be. You must be completely torn up right now, but you’re ready to tell me everything, I know you are. Whatever has happened to you, I’ll still see you as the you I know. Hell, I think I’ll even see you as more. We’ll talk everything through, and I know you’ll feel much better after.”
The Zangoose squeezed the larger male’s hand.
“I’ll never give up on you.”
Delga sighed, not believing that he was actually going to spill.
He wasn’t exactly sure where to start, but he figured he’d go with what Aladar knew first.
“Well… You know already that the world I was in was a bad one. Very bad. Full of torment and hurt, right?” He asked, and the Zangoose nodded. “Well, abuse was the law of the land, all sorts of abuse…”
Aladar stayed silent as Delga explained. The dragon gulped and took another break before continuing.
“There were a lot of people and monsters that did nothing but hunt and hurt others, but… I was probably the biggest target of them all back there.”
Just the thought of life in that old world made his stomach turn, and it was taking quite a bit for him to not choke up.
“I… Before I go on, I have to ask you something.”
Aladar again stayed silent, and Delga took another deep breath.
“Have you ever heard of being known as… Kuromaru?”
The Zangoose tilted his head, then shook it.
“I don’t think so.” Aladar answered.
Given the world he was in now, Delga figured that was the case, but he still sighed with relief regardless.
“Kuromaru… Well, to say he was an evil monster is putting it lightly. He was this fiendish slime, eyeball demon that stole people from their worlds and dragged them to that hellscape I spent the last seven… I think, years of my life.”
Delga shuddered again, but was actually surprised that he had managed to keep talking for this long.
Especially since he was talking about Kuromaru.
“He was like the god of that world, you can say. He… His only purpose in life seemed to be finding strong people, and breaking them.”
That was putting it lightly.
“Apparently a lot of the people in that world used to be good people, people who were corrupted by that monster; driven mad, or just completely lost themselves.”
“Were you also one of those people?” The Zangoose asked.
The dragon had to stop for a second to think of how to answer that.
“Well… Yes and no.” The dragon replied, still thinking. “I was one of the people who was stolen from their home, but I was never driven mad or anything. The thing is, I don’t just not have any memories of who I was back then, I lost my memory long before I was taken by Kuromaru.”
He sighed, and assumed he was probably going to be doing that quite a lot.
“Not having my memory always made me feel empty, but after being stolen by Kuromaru, that emptiness turned into helplessness. I mean, imagine being alone in a world full of evil people and monsters, not knowing who you are, where you come from, not knowing if you have any friends or family worried about you. Hell, for all I know, maybe I was some evil person who is being punished, but I have know clue of what I did or why!”
Delga began shaking quite a bit as he was getting worked up from saying all of this. The worst part is that he hadn’t even spoken about the worse parts, not to mention what he went through.
Aladar had grabbed his hand again, squeezing it a bit.
“Calm down. You’re alright.” The smaller male said.
Delga didn’t entirely believe it, but it did ease his shaking a little.
“The fact that you don’t have any memories doesn’t change anything. Even if by chance you were some bad guy, you’re not that person anymore, so everything you went through was wrong regardless. Please don’t think that you deserved any of it.”
The dragon took another deep breath, composing himself as he squeezed the smaller male’s hand back as he continued.
“Right… Anyway, as I said, Kuromaru… ‘favored’ me, and because of it, a lot of others did too. Because I didn’t have much, I didn’t ‘break’ the same way that others did. I might have been a huge mess, but… I guess you can say I didn’t stoop to the levels of others. I couldn’t…”
“But…” Aladar cut in. “What exactly was all of it about? What did everyone do back there that was so wrong? I mean, I assume that throwing people under the bus and selling others out was a thing, but for what?”
Delga gulped, and began shaking again.
Aladar had asked it; the question Delga really didn’t want to answer, and now he knew he couldn’t beat around the bush any longer.
“Kuromaru… And everyone else… They…”
Tears began to roll down his face, and he looked directly at Aladar.
He was scared to say it, but he had to; he couldn’t keep it any longer.
“They all… Raped me.”
The dragon watched as a look of pure shock and horror appeared on Aladar’s face.
“That was the law of that world. Rape, humiliation, degrading, and so on. People either went mad with lust and raped others, or broke down and became emotionless playthings. And me? Well, I was at the bottom of the barrel. That one guy who was deemed easy pickings, so everyone wanted their way with.”
Delga wasn’t expecting it, but Aladar had covered his mouth, and also had tears running down his face.
Delga wanted to just stop talking, but he just couldn’t.
“I’ve been dragged to weird places that you couldn’t comprehend. Tentacle forests, caves, tribes of bovines…”
He began choking up now.
“No matter how hard I fought, I was overpowered, and they all just…”
The dragon’s stomach had sunk, and he thought that maybe that was enough. Though it wasn’t just his stomach; just the thought of all the people and things that had violated him was making his whole body ache, as if remembering was almost reliving it.
He finally broke down and started sobbing.
“D-Del…ga.”
Surprised once again, Aladar had wrapped his arms around him, and began crying along with him.
He couldn’t help but pause for a second from the reaction that he had gotten. It was so strange to see someone like this; crying for him.
He knew Aladar was a nice person, but he wasn’t expecting to get pity for his tale. Delga surely would have thought that his Zangoose would see him as nothing more than a weakling.
That pause didn’t last long as the dragon found himself wrapping his arms around the smaller male and pulling him closer than he thought he’d ever allow anyone. His crying continued, however, part of him was crying because he felt somewhat happy that someone else was crying for him.
Aladar truly seemed to want to be there for him…
“I…” The Zangoose muttered. “I’m sorry…”
Those words hit the dragon’s heart. He thought it was rather weird that Aladar was apologizing for something he had nothing to do with, but he wasn’t going to question it.
xXOOOOXx
That was the last thing Delga remembered, and assumed they must have dozed off afterwards.
He looked down at Aladar, who was holding onto him and snoozing away. The Zangoose seemed to have a soft smile on his face, and one crept onto Delga’s as well.
He lightly scratched the top of the smaller male’s head.
“You were right… I do feel better. It hurts, but…”
It might be because he really loved how fluffy Aladar was, but part of him really wanted to kiss the sleeping Zangoose. He already had a small crush on him, but after today, he really wanted more.
"Do I... Love You?"
Though he had his doubts, it was beyond strange for him to actually feel this way. He had always known fear and hate towards others. Even if he felt like he owed the Zangoose, deep down, he really wanted to squeeze the smaller male in his chest and pet him all over.
He decided against that kiss for now, and instead turned his head to the side to watch all the people outside enjoying the afternoon.
