DINOMAN! The Diaper-Clad Superheroes you've never heard off
(How this all began)
Ok, so... this is a bit of a weird story, when I took my IPad to get repaired (I got locked out) I was in the shopping district and I decided to check out some toys, (not to buy any, just window shopping) when I came across a rather interesting set of toys all in Korean. I could not understand any of it, but fascinatingly, all of the characters were Dinosaurs wearing what I thought looked like diapers! So I snapped a few pictures and went home to translate my findings, and after a bit of digging around, I eventually learned more about what I was looking at. This was a Korean cartoon called Dinoman!
(What's Dinoman?)
Dinoman is a cartoon where a group of Dinosaurs which I guess are called the 'Time Explorers'? according to the text on the toys. Where each episode centers around travelling back in time, and helping out some currently extinct animal or animals from a wide variety of time periods, whether it be as far as the Cambrian to as recent as the Holocene. They do this with a bunch of custom-built dinosaur-themed vehicles!
The team consists of:
- Dinoman, a spunky red T-Rex with Super strength, and a love for action!
- Cera Girl, a curious and brave cyan and pink Triceratops (presumably), who also has an interest in gardening and carrots!
- Brontoman, a calm and kind Brontosaurus, who loves to draw and paint! He also frequently breakdances in the show!
- Pteraman, A nerdy gray Pteranodon that has a love for reading, and is the smartest of the group!
- Dr. True, the only adult in the group, a green Troodon (Although he looks nothing like one) who's responsible for giving the kids their missions, but doesn't go on them.
Also, they all wear diapers as their team uniform! yeah, they are diapers! And they all put them on at the start of each mission! including Brontoman who's clearly older than the others with a deeper voice, but he still dons' the diapers! Respect. So, why do they wear them? Or why are their uniforms diapers? Well... It's never bought up, they just are, I don't think they even use them. And you know what? I'm all for it! at least you can look adorable saving the world. And like many cartoon diapers, these ones are completely waterproof externally, got splashed? Or need to go swimming? it's alright, their diapers stay completely dry! Maybe they're some kind of Omni-Universal diaper.
The show is in the vein of a group of kids with shockingly advanced vehicles pulling off simple rescues across their world, which is a premise I like. However, a slight downside of this show is that for some reason, only two of the four kids will be sent on any of the missions with no backup, with one of them always being Dinoman himself. And only one of their four rides will be shown on a single mission, (not counting the time travel shuttle they use to travel between time periods)
It's strangely restrictive... I feel like the fun of shows like these, and why they can be great despite their formulaic nature, is you can tell a lot of potential stories with the premise, have a different mix of characters for each mission, to see how each character interacts with each other, you can write their relationship in pairs, see how their vehicles function as a unit, and for large scale events, you can send the whole team out on a huge scale rescue! The obvious comparison here is PAW Patrol, which did a great job at this in its earlier seasons, which often focused more on the pups as characters, and the creative uses of their kits before becoming the gimmick-ridden series it is now. But maybe I'm overthinking about a kids show that's built to sell toys, but I feel like, you could still at least put some soul into it, instead of just treating it like a cynical commercial.
(Can I watch it?)
Yes! you can! I'll link the playlists where you can find all the episodes of the cartoon! There are two versions, the original in Korean, and an English Dub. But with downsides to each.
- The original Korean is the superior version, as it contains text that the English dub edits out or over, and the characters are also voiced significantly better. the downside is, there are no subtitles, so if you don't know Korean, you're kinda out of luck.
Korean: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?li.....CFDc-elfSrVVsb
-The English dub is at the very least understandable to non-Korean speakers, but the voice acting is absolutely atrocious, as it seems as if the VAs clearly do not want to be there and voice acting, and are thus doing the bare minimum. So yeah.

Also, Brontoman is my favorite! I love his design and his character, he's the only one in this picture where I did not make many significant changes to his design compared to Dinoman and Cera Girl, his headphones, hair tuft, cloud collar, and cape paired with the diaper just make him look so adorable! He's also a Sauropod, which are some of my favorite Dinosaurs!
Strangely, one of the pictures I took of the toys shows a possibly earlier design of the character? Where he appears as a Feral Brontosaurus with all his accessories. You can find all the pictures I took here: https://sta.sh/2224j8811skw?edit=1

I found the original non translated versions of the cartoon to be the most pleasant to watch. I don't know korean, but I can still get the jist of what's going on in each episode anyway. Definitely a nice find. Thanks for sharing with us. Cute dinos in diapers plus rad vehicles is an extremely great combination!
Hmm... interesting. Wonder how the pitch for this happened. Also, a shame diaper-clad superheroes is not as unique as I thought. Maybe I have a better edge with my characters and story ideas being more mature than these kinds of shows.
Leon's really good at finding really obscure diaper stuff, although honestly, the only reason I know about this was because I accidentally stumbled into it out of sheer coincidence.
Yeah exactly, he has an eye for this exact stuff.
Btween this and the Bosomi ads, I think Korea may have a certain preference, if you know what I mean~

N'awwwwwww this is so cute, gotta LOVE Adorable Little Diapered Superheros
that's really interesting, thanks for sharing all your findings with us! it's a pretty cool concept!
How interesting! Is it actually specified within the show that they're wearing diapers rather than underwear?
well, in the English dub, they do outright say diaper. although I'm not sure about the Korean version. However, I am willing to bet that they are in fact diapers. in one episode, dodo 1, we see baby pictures of Dinoman and Cera Girl, and they're wearing the same diapers they currently do!
Probably none, because I don't think its ever mentioned that they use them.
Kinda makes you wonder if they're like cloth diapers-- or at least a pull-on variety of them. I've seen this a few times, but the animation always makes it confusing... diapers that are rarely (or never) used, and lack the side-tabs of regular ones intended for easier changing, are basically stylized underoos.
A similar concept is often found in Dragon Tales (Cassie's baby sister Kiki) and in most of the CareBears series; Hugs and Tugs (who do actually get their diapers changed at one point, possibly indicating they do use them, but this is only seen in 1 episode in the entire series).
One noteworthy deviation from this animation style can be seen in a UK-made kids' show called Wide-Eye; Baby Komodo (one of the few respectable diapered characters since the age of Dragon Tales).

I love your rendition of the characters A LOT more than the actual show! The show has some impressive mechanical designs for their vehicles, but the living characters look like an amalgamation of baby-shark and steven's universe if they were emoji stickers glued onto marshmallows and purposely clueless all the time! And you're right about the one that's supposed to be a Troodon, he looks more like an Owl that cross-bred with a frog.
I get that the diapers are a cute thing, but why do they have to put them on before they go out? Why not just have them on all the time if they wear them in the first place, or at least make them part of a more detailed uniform? Rugrats figured that part out real fast back then.

In the sequences I slowed down…Dinoman says what I think is “time to be diapered!”
I think I managed to find one. I didn't watch the whole series, so there might be more. But in episode 21, after leaving the shuttle, Dinoman begins sliding due to slippery snow and is about to fall off a cliff, but Brontoman manages to grab his diaper and yank him back to safety.

That was pretty funny. I bet Dinoman was thinking "thank goodness I had this diaper on or else I would have fell. I still wonder why we have to wear these?"
This is why I love sites such as this, being able to discuss obscure shows featuring baby content, or making our own stories and art with these little to well known characters. And of course, plenty of goofy diaper interaction scenarios.
aww dinoman looks so cute wearing his cute diaper cera girl looks so pretty wearing her white shirt and her pretty diaper brontoman looks so cute wearing his orange cape and his cute diaper while dinoman and his friends are ready to save the world super cute
