These gouache postcards are part of a large series where I will be aiming to paint 100 landscapes. These were painted in 2024.
Postcard 87 Sydney Alley - These milk crates were stacked near a train station after a long period of wet weather. The contrast of the weeds and lichen against the milk crates, brick wall and corregated iron fence was really interesting for me.
Postcard 88 Appleyard - This river was lined with eroded limestone cliffs, and only accessible after passing under a large old apple tree.
Postcard 89 Aging onions - My husband's uncle & aunt are dry aging onions on their farm in Tenthill, QLD.
Postcard 90 Limestone - The colourful limestone rocks provided a vibrant background for these new gumtree shoots.

Oh! I can see you have revised your postcard descriptions, assigning each a number!
Or maybe that's how they always were, and I'm losing my mind...
Anyway, if upon reaching the one hundred mark you discover
that you has started levitating in midair, with your eyes glowing,
and that you have acquired the ability to rearrange matter and redirect energy at will,
possibly permitting you to travel through time and space, please let us know!
I love the way the natural and artificial colors and shapes combine in some places,
resulting in images of sublime beauty, even if the constituent parts are mundane.
That river is so green because it's covered in duckweed, or because it reflects the surrounding greens?
Or is it its natural hue? It's a very pleasant emerald color! And I love hard to reach scenic places, too!
🧅Onions🧅! The evilest of vegetables with no other purpose in life than to make people cry!
I like the gaping chasm at the back, it gives the painting an even more ominous feel
than if it had just been a group portrait of all those aging onions.
Thank you for putting your access to that produce to good use!
A handsome contrast of earthy browns and the joyous greens of that baby eucalyptus!
