In the coming days, Princess Cadance continued to dabble in her powers of manipulating other ponies through her love magic. She started with the castle guards, casting her spell and touching her horn against their helmets as she waddled by, then ordering them to sneak her some snacks from the castle kitchens. Then came the castle chefs and servants, having them cook and serve her additional meals but not to such an extent to gain Celestia’s notice. After enough practice, she no longer needed to physically touch ponies in order to mesmerize them, able to cast her spell at a distance so long as they made eye contact with her.
Soon enough, she took her newfound power into the Canterlot streets, casting it on shop and restaurant owners, sparingly of course, and only for meager meals like an extra candied apple or a second plate of food. It was all harmless fun to the princess; no pony would notice a mouthful of food missing, or having their business and livelihoods ruined by it. Once the spell wore off, her subjects had no recollection of ever being controlled to begin with. Normalcy was maintained throughout Canterlot, but with the added benefits of her enjoying a few more delectable eats than usual.
Cadance smirked at her reflection in the mirror each morning, murmuring with delight at the added amount of flab she managed to grow with each passing week. Her forelegs, flanks, and belly filled with inch upon inch of added pudge, softening into pillowy cushions of mouth-watering fat. Chairs she once comfortably sat in now creaked under her added weight, while her belly now managed to reach the floor, pulling along wherever she waddled. Even Celestia was impressed at the rate she grew, attributing it to her own enabling; meanwhile Shining Armor swooned and fawned over her increased size, completely oblivious to her questionable methods of achieving it.
Life was going well for the princess, but as the days without yet another huge-blubber swelling feast went on, the gluttonous urge to gorge herself with abandon lingered in the back of her mind like a bad itch. She greedily doubled the amount of food she’d trim off of hypnotized ponies, but even with the added fullness she felt at the end of the day, it paled in comparison to feeling so overglutted she could feel it all slosh inside her gut as she pulled herself along the Canterlot streets. It was hard to forget the richness of the ice cream parlor, though she felt guilty about the owner temporarily shutting his shop down, forced to wait until next month’s shipment before running his shop normally. She questioned the consequences of clearing out another small shop; then suddenly, an idea emerged. If she could target an establishment that’d be better off after dealing with her gluttony, perhaps she’d be able to satisfy her need to gorge without experiencing any guilt from the aftermath?
The Silver Mane was just such a restaurant within Canterlot’s upper class district, where posh unicorns dined on expensive food for the privilege of eating at such a high class venue. Clearing them out for the day surely would have little effect on their business, with wealthy ponies constantly flooding through their doors and a waiting list that stretched months long. Her stomach bellowed at the tantalizing idea. Though she’d have to hypnotize multiple ponies to do it, it would all be just a harmless blur the next day.
Thanks to The Silver Mane’s couples-only policy, Cadance was forced to bring Shining Armor along with her; her covetous need for a feast clouded her judgment on how he might react seeing her use her magic on other ponies to get what she wanted. Instead, the colt wryly smiled along the entire way to the restaurant. The thought of her inviting him along to such a high class place flattered him to the point he felt butterflies in his stomach.
“I know I keep saying this,” said Shining Armor, “but thank you again, Cadance. This is…an awful lot. Especially for me.”
“Honestly, Shiny, it’s no big deal.”
“But…I mean…it’s one of the fanciest restaurants in all of Canterlot. My parents only ate there once to try it out, and they were on a four month waiting list for just the two of them. Not to mention the food there was so expensive and came in such small portions, they ended up eating at a simple sandwich restaurant after leaving just to have their fill. So…I don’t know. It just…means a lot that you’d go through all this effort…just for me.”
Cadance wiped her mouth of drool, day dreaming of their roasted oats wellington served with oakwood cheese and grape cider. “Uh…yeah, sure. *Mmm*, whatever you say.”
Arriving at the restaurant, the pair waited in line for what felt like an eternity to Cadance. Out of all the other couples, they were the only ones not dressed for the occasion. The princess fidgeted in a torturous cycle of licking her lips and grumbling at her growling stomach, eager to get her gluttonous master plan underway; all the while Shining Armor smiled, just happy to spend time with her.
Finally at the front of the line, the maitre d looked down at the young pair from his podium at the front entrance, unimpressed to be in the presence of royalty. Cadance sheepishly grinned, mildly intimidated by his piercing brown eyes judging her lack of dress .
“Hello,” said the princess, “one table for me and my date, please.”
The maitre d turned his attention to Shining Armor, barely visible behind her wide flanks eclipsing the line behind her. “I’m sorry princess, but you’re not on the list.”
Cadance raised an eyebrow. “But…you didn’t even look.”
“I don’t need to. A princess reserving a table with us is not something I’d merely forget in a few months. I am in charge of all the booking and seating arrangements at this restaurant, and I know for a fact that you haven’t made a reservation with us.”
“Well…that’s not right,” Cadance sheepishly smiled at a perplexed Shining Armor, “I could have sworn I booked months in advance.” Using her magic, she plucked a clipboard from his podium and handed it to the colt. “Look that over won’t you, Shiny. I know my name’s on there somewhere.”
“Princess, please. I know with one hundred percent certainty that you aren’t on the list.”
“Then I must be on some other list.” While Shining Armor flipped through pages, Cadance’s horn flared up with a pink aura of magic. The maitre d locked his eyes with hers, and suddenly, he found himself unable to look away. “Come on, you already have a table ready for me, don’t you?”
In a flash of light, the stallion’s iris turned a bright pink, his eyes now dazed as if put in a sleepy trance. “We certainly do. Right this way, Princess Cadance.”
“I think he’s right,” said Shining Armor, “I can’t find your name anywhere on here.”
Cadance magically snatched the clipboard away and placed it back on the podium. “Like I said, must be on a different list. That’s all.”
The pair followed the maitre d into a large circular dining area to a table at the leftmost edge of the restaurant, right beside the kitchens. Shining Armor looked on at the crowd of ponies looking in their direction, whispering about Cadance and their lack of dress attire with disapproval. Looking to their table, he noticed the reservation tags displaying a name other than Cadance’s before the maitre d swiped it away. As they sat, he looked to Cadance to ask her, but the princess was too occupied drooling over the menu choices, so he decided to drop it.
Filhay mignon, oats shortribs, oats wellington, potato puree, gouda mac and cheese, it was all so good. Licking her lips, Cadance ordered each entree and appetizer on the menu, of which she was surprised there wasn’t a larger selection. The two handed back their menus and patiently waited sipping their fruit fizzy drinks. Shining Armor wryly smiled, watching Cadance’s hooves squish against her plump cheeks while she watched the other diners eating their meals.
“The menu here…sure is expensive,” said the colt. “What gave you a craving to want to eat here?”
What are those two ponies eating, Cadance thought to herself. Looks like…cabbage cakes, onion soup, and…caesar salad, mmm.
“Cadance?”
“Hmm? You say something, Shiny?”
“It’s just…with how much the food costs here, you could have eaten perhaps…three times as much anywhere else. Honestly, I’m surprised that with how much you’ve been…binging…lately, you’ve managed to save up any bits at all.”
“Uh…well, you know. I-uh-keep a rainy day fund on the side, in case I run out of snacks, heh.”
Shining Armor raised an eyebrow, “since when? Everytime Celestia gives you your princess allowance the first thing you want to do is splurge it on food.”
“Well, obviously I don’t splurge it all on food. I just…you know…save a little on the side.”
“Enough to take me to this place? And with you eating twice as many plates and desserts these past few weeks?”
“Celestia’s been really generous, so what? What’s the big deal?”
“I don’t know, it’s just…not like you. If you find a bit on the floor, you don’t save it, you look to buy the first bag of candied chestnuts you could get. And then there’s this place; twenty bits for a meal? You could have spent that on at least several orders of hayburgers and fries, or a couple boxes of pizza.”
“You’re right, I could have,” Cadance snorted a huff of air, briefly scowling at the colt before looking away. “I’m sorry for wanting to take you someplace nice, Shiny. How awful of me not to think of myself for once.”
Shining Armor held his head downcast, feeling guilty over his choice of words. He reached out a hoof across the table, touching the alicorn, who paid him no heed. “Hey, I’m sorry. This just…feels like a lot. I really do appreciate you bringing me here.”
Feeling him stroke her hoof, she looked back to the colt with a smile. “And I appreciate you, Shiny. Now stop worrying about everything, we’re here to have ourselves a good time, okay?”
The colt nodded in agreement, happy to see Cadance smile back through her chubby cheeks. As time carried on, Cadance fidgeted with her hoof while anxiously waiting for something to nibble on. Every several minutes, waiter ponies came by to refill her drink and basket of cheese bread, occasionally carrying with them a plate of food meant for another table. Even the soup and salad appetizers were nowhere to be seen. She grew frustrated from the long wait; her furnace of a stomach scorched its way through any amount of bread she ate like dry leaves on a fire pit.
“Sweet Celestia, what’s taking so long? They have bread for days, but not even a single mozzarella stick or bowl of lettuce. This is getting ridiculous.”
Shining Armor looked around the restaurant. “They do seem rather packed today. But hey, I’m sure it’ll be worth the wait once it gets here.”
“True,” Cadance rubbed under her chin, “but…why even wait at all?”
Mischievously grinning, the alicorn made the colt wince with unease. Sending a waiter to fetch the maitre d, she ordered him to bring over the entire waiting staff over to her table. Once they arrived, her horn flared with magical energy, zapping all twelve servers into an entranced and sloppily smiling state of bliss. Cadance rubbed at her head, never having cast her spell on multiple ponies at once.
“Now then,” she sighed, “my faithful servers. Any and all food that comes out of those kitchens, you are to bring straight to this table, understood?”
“As you wish, Princess Cadance,” the ponies spoke in unison before walking off.
Though the princess giggled at the sight of them marching away single file, Shining Armor wasn’t the least bit amused. “Cadance,” he spoke in a loud whispering tone, “what are you doing? W-what did you do to those ponies?”
“It’s nothing,” she waved a hoof, “just a little bit of love magic, like the kind I used on that guard when we snuck into Celestia’s bed chambers.”
“Love magic? B-but, I thought you just did that by accident? You actually know how to control it now?”
“Yeah,” Cadance winked, “it's cool, isn’t it?”
The colt felt a sudden wave of confliction, feeling as if he had swallowed his own tongue. Her misuse of power and nonchalant attitude towards it rattled the caring and loving perception he had of her; the sweet alicorn who filly sat for his younger sister now appeared far more devious in nature. His body trembled to speak out about what she was doing, but feared getting into another argument with her.
“I…I don’t know, it just doesn’t seem right.”
“What? They’re just doing the same thing they do every day, serving food. Only, it’ll be for us for the time being.”
“B-but…I mean…there are other ponies here waiting to eat too.”
Cadance scoffed. “Oh please, these ponies can afford to eat here anytime they want. Today is just for us. The maitre d and waiters will forget all about this tomorrow, it’s no big deal.”
Shining Armor raised a hoof to object, but was suddenly surprised by a bowl of caesar salad placed in front of him. The princess rubbed her hooves together with delight; her grumbling belly catching the attention of some of the other diners.
“It’s about time. Let's see what makes this place so special.”
She dove muzzle first into her bowl of salad, her mouth coated in dressing as she slopped up large mouthfuls like a pig at a trough, swallowing the entirety of the bowl’s contents in one gulp. She did the same with other salads and soups placed in front of her by the conveyor belt of waiter ponies going back and forth from the kitchens. Her stomach burbled with contentment, elated to finally have some sustenance after waiting so long.
Her curiosity peaked once the main dishes were served. Each plate of filhay mignon and oats wellington looked like a piece of art with its presentation. Both of them were garnished and dripping with honey glaze, steam brushing against her cheeks and causing her mouth to water. Biting off a large chunk of the wellington, the crunch of the crust sent shivers down her spine, while the smokey flavoring of the oats caressed her tongue before sliding into her gullet. It was certainly one of the finest meals she had ever tasted, and was finished in just three bites.
“*Mmmff*, Shiny, you got to, *nmmf*, tashte thish, *omf*.”
Shiny Armor pushed his bowl of salad away, having not taken a single bite of it. “That’s okay…I’m not very hungry.”
Cadance couldn’t hear him while slurping down a bowl of cabbage and leek soup; her focus on the feast made her oblivious to the colt’s sad demeanor. Finishing bowl after bowl, plate after plate of both entrees and appetizers, Cadance made a sizable stack of dirty dishes around the center of the table. Though her belly now blorped with a cozy collection of food, the portion sizes themselves were a fraction of what she would normally eat at any other restaurant. Being able to think about it amidst stuffing herself meant she wasn’t glutting nearly enough to completely lose herself to her own gluttony.
“You know, Shiny? I think you were right. The food here’s delicious, but I could be gorging myself so much more at any other hayburger or pizza restaurant.”
Shining Armor looked up from the table. “Well…it’s still not too late to go somewhere else. Someplace where you could probably eat ten times as much.”
“Hmm, actually,” Cadance grinned, rubbing at her second chin with a hoof, “you just gave me a great idea.”
As a waiter pony delivered another plate of short ribs, Cadance motioned for him to stay. “Excuse me, I have a request I’d like to make for the cooks in the kitchen. Could you tell them I would like ten times the portions on each plate that I’m being served right now. Oh, and that would include the bowls as well.”
“Of course, Princess Cadance,” said the pony, “although the cooks are a bit stubborn I’m afraid. They stress to every customer that the portions are precisely as they should be, and scoff at serving any more or less.”
“Is that so? Then I guess I better have a chat with them.”
Shining Armor pushed himself out of his chair, quickly standing himself up. “Cadance, please. Lets just—.”
“I’ll handle it, Shiny. Don’t you, *hnng*, worry.”
Rolling herself from a sitting to a standing position, Cadance’s gut sloshed as it poured onto the floor. Shining Armor watched her waddling along with the waiter, widening to at least five times his size, with flanks capable of smothering him up to his muzzle. Normally the sight of his corpulent princess wobbling along would leave the colt in quite the swooning state, but as they approached the kitchen windows, he could only feel his heart sinking deeper into his stomach. The princess stopped in front of the windows, and suddenly, a bright flash of pink light lit the area. A glint of concern befell him as Cadance’s legs buckled, hunching her over as if she were about to fall. She stood upright with the waiter pony’s help, returning to her table with a look of smugness and triumph.
“Are you alright,” asked the colt, “you looked kinda groggy over there.”
Cadance waved it off with a hoof. “I’m fine. There were more ponies in there than I thought there’d be. Zapping all of them with love magic made me kinda light headed, that’s all.”
“Cadance, you’re taking this way too far. Now you have the entire restaurant staff held hostage, and you’re okay with that?”
“Oh, would you just relax? I know what I’m doing.”
“Do you, really? Did you plan on hypnotizing every pony in here just to have your way?”
“You know Shiny, maybe I did. No pony here will remember anything by morning, and tomorrow will be business as usual. So how about you stop being such a stick in the mud and have a little bit of fun for a change?”
The young colt averted his eyes, his lips scrunched as he looked down at the carpeted flooring. Cadance likewise turned her head, catching a tear dripping down Shining Armor’s face. A piece of her heart shriveled at the sight of it, feeling a pang of remorse at her harsh choice of words. But the burbling of her content stomach deafened her guilty thoughts. The pleasures of the feast justified a little deception. Knowing Shining Armor’s love for her, he’d no doubt forgive her in a day or two.
After an awkward silence passed between the two of them, the waiter ponies finally returned bearing Cadance’s new order of food. Her mouth drooled at the sight of them wheeling out carts bearing large plates with stacks of delectably pungent food. The crowd of onlookers stared slack jawed as her table was filled with plates and bowls; with the food on their own tables having been long finished, their stomachs growled as they awaited their next course of meals. Her hooves heartily lifted her blorping belly, playfully wobbling it in her arms at the thought of really diving into her gluttony; meanwhile Shining Armor remained dejectedly peering at the ground, eagerly awaiting for their departure.
Greedily, the fat princess dove headlong into her feast, bunching her plates together and pulling food toward her open mouth. The other guests watched in horror as oat ribs, cabbage cakes, and other sundry foods filled her cheeks, smearing her fat face with juices and sauces. Once her mouth was full and unable to close, she craned her neck back, strenuously gulping as if swallowing a boulder. The mound of food bulged out her already corpulently padded neck, forcing her to pat it down her gullet with both hooves. She moaned at the final gulp, pleased at how it came crashing into her stomach, churning the rest of her gluttony like a washing machine.
Finally able to enjoy her feast as intended, Cadance became quite the unnerving spectacle to the posh ponies watching. Staining her pretty pink coat of fur with splotches of sauce and drips of bottled cider, any semblance of table etiquette she’d have learned from being a princess was thrown out the window. With each gulp, the crowds would wince as her blubberous body swelled before their very eyes. Her grotesque sloshing gut began pouring onto the table while also widening to twice its length. Her huge flanks helped to prop up her chunky love handles, giving her pillowy arms a comfortable spot to rest. The roll of fat encompassing her neck squished further against her own cheeks, making it more difficult to push food down with her hooves.
Before her belly snapped the table in half, Cadance backed up slightly, moaning with glee as she shifted herself into a lying position, resting atop of her belly. As the food deliveries to her table began to slow down, she ordered the staff to pick up the pace. The food then delivered hardly resembled the works of art they were before, but she didn’t care. Her stomach recognized it all the same, whether it was made for high society or common folk. Everything she shoved down her gullet would make her fatter, whether it was crafted as a culinary masterpiece or an amalgamation of oats, hay, and bread.
To Cadance’s surprise, none of the other customers left the restaurant, despite her unruly display of gluttony causing them to grimace with disgust. She did her typical taunting mannerisms as with every onlooker she encountered at other restaurants, snidely grinning as she smacked her wobbling gut and belching in their direction. Yet, no pony moved an inch from their seats or made their way toward the doors. Instead, their scowling faces grew with such ire that her own confidence grew a tad unsettled. It wasn’t until after chugging multiple bottles of cider and juice, and letting rip a loud and prolonged belch, that one of the other diners finally approached her table, aggressively pulling at a waiter pony’s tuxedo.
“What’s the meaning of this,” the pony shouted, “why’s she the only one being served for the past half hour?”
Cadance was taken aback by the stallion’s anger. “Hehe, relax, *hic-hilp*, mister. I’m sure they’ll serve you fairly soon.”
The stallion shot a glare back at her, completely unamused. “I came in right before you did, and never in all my years coming here has it ever taken close to an hour to be served. Not to mention the entire waiting staff catering to only you.”
“He’s right,” shouted another pony from the crowd, “what makes you so special?”
Cadance scoffed, smirking at the pony who spoke while flicking her mane. “Well, I’m a princess, *hic-hilp*, duh.”
Stung by her narcissism, a plethora of complaints rose from every pony in the room. Hooves banged on tables, clanking silverware, glasses, and plates. More ponies walked up to the table, crowding around a trembling Shining Armor who became trapped between the mob. A nervous drop of sweat trickled from the princess’ brow, never having witnessed a group of angry ponies all displeasingly shouting in her face.
“Princesses don’t get any special treatment here!”
“That’s right! You’re not better than us!”
“We’ve all waited long for our food, and we’re still starving!”
“You’ve had enough, let them serve some pony else!”
“We’re hungry!”
“Yeah, share that food around!”
As the mob grew closer, Cadance’s heart began to beat out of her flabby chest. Without thinking, her horn glowed with magic in preparation for her spell. She frantically looked to Shining Armor, who understood and shut his eyes. Gathering enough power, the room sparkled in a pink glow of light. Cadance’s body grew completely limp; her head submerging into her abundant neck rolls as she nearly fainted. Her head felt heavy from the strain of her spell, making her feel woozy and swaying from side to side.
The blur from her eyes soon vanished, revealing the now quiet crowd of ponies all with glowing pink irises. She wryly smiled, surprised at being able to hypnotize everyone at the cost of her pounding head. “Uh, hehe, *hic-hilp*. Okay every pony…um…back to your seats?”
“Whatever you say, Princess Cadance.”
The chorus of voices all spoke in unison before obliging Cadance’s command. She blew a sigh of relief, “sweet Celest-*orp*-tia. That was kinda scary, *hic-hilp*, wasn’t it Shi—.”
Cadance’s playful smirk melted away when looking back to the colt. His stare was brief, but contained the same glaring anger the others had not a moment ago before he looked away, his face still wet with tears. He spoke not a word, and not one popped into Cadance’s mind of which to ask him. With a loud blorp erupting from her stomach, she continued to glut herself, salvaging some semblance of joy from the night.
With her head still feeling like a bag of cement, Cadance enjoyed her feast as best she could. Wobbling her sloshing gut and wolfing down heaps of food still brought a multitude of pleasures, but only for a moment once her head pain took center stage. She tried reaching up to it with a hoof to give it some soothing rubs, even tilting her head to help, but her limbs and neck rolls had grown far too thick. The best she could do was wobble her mountainous rear back and forth, getting the rolls on her back to squish the back of her head, which proved more flustering than alleviating.
After another half hour of eating, the kitchen had finally run dry on ingredients, bringing Cadance’s feast to a halt. By then, the alicorn was sufficiently glutted, murmuring with delight atop of a pool of sloshing pink lard. The hooves of her back legs became enveloped by her vast under belly and thighs. Her hulking flanks sagged like softened dough not yet kneaded into shape. It towered over the rest of her, creating a shadow over her rippling back rolls. Belching, she gave the side of her gut a series of heavy pats. The sweet chorus of its rich tar-like squelching was like music to her ears.
“*Ooourp*, *mmm*, that was quite the filling feast.” Cadance licked her lips of sauce and bread crumbs while wobbling her blubbery body with both hooves. “As for the food here, *hic-hilp*, it did its job, making me nice and fat. Though, *buuurap*, as good as it was, after the first few dishes, *hic-hilp*, I forgot I was eating gourmet food.”
“Your bill, Princess Cadance.”
Accepting the receipt from the maitre d, Cadance’s eyes bulged in wide eyed shock. “Over a thousand bits? You really, *hic-hilp*, kept track of everything that whole time?”
The maitre d nodded his head, still wearing a goofy grin. “We sure do, Princess Cadance. Thank you for dining at The Silver Mane.”
As much as the price shocked her, she couldn’t help but blush seeing the monetary value of everything she had gorged on in one evening. She looked to the other ponies in the room, all of them staring back at her with crooked smiles and eyes wide open. “Hehe, hey every pony, you’ll all take care of this bill for me won’t you?”
Each of them spoke together. “Of course, Princess Cadance.”
“Ugh, I can’t take this anymore!”
Taken aback by Shining Armor’s outburst, Cadance reached a hoof out for him as he kicked aside his seat and stormed toward the exit. “Shiny…wait!”
The full weight of Cadance’s lard filled body fought against her as she leaned herself forward, touching both her forehooves to the floor. With what fleeting amount of muscle she had left in her arms, she dragged herself along the floor to follow the colt, groaning with exertion feeling her corpulence burble and churn from the exercise. Completely filling out the front door, every pony on the inside helped to push her the rest of the way through; the rich rolls on her back pouring atop of her arms, neck, and horn.
“Thanks, *hic-hilp*, every pony. Now, all of you go home, *hilp*, and forget all about tonight.”
“Whatever you say, Princess Cadance.”
Every pony, staff and customer, did as they were bidden. The lights of the restaurant were all turned off, and the doors were locked up. On both ends of the street, they all trotted back in the direction of their homes, leaving the whale-like blob of a princess to drag herself in Shining Armor’s direction, all alone.
The colt didn’t go far down the road before Cadance caught up to him, stopping at an intersection while huffing and puffing for breath. He sat underneath a flickering lamp post, evidently waiting for her, turning around once he heard her voice.
“I was just, *huff*, kidding, *oof*, Shiny. I wasn’t, *hic-hilp*, really…going to…let them pay…for everything.”
“It’s not just that,” Shining Armor sniffled, “it’s everything else on top of it.” He turned around, locking his red puffy eyes with hers. The trail of wetness where his tears fell left his fur loose and coarse. “You never made a reservation, that table wasn’t meant for us, and then you made me feel guilty for even questioning you. I was stupid enough to think you actually wanted to take me someplace nice, but you only wanted to use me to get in. I thought you actually cared about me like…like I cared about you.”
Cadance blinked a few tears from her eyes, her chunky arms too fat to even reach up and wipe them away. “Oh Shiny, I do, *hic*, I do care about you.”
“You know the worst part of tonight? The worst part…was watching you use your magic to manipulate every pony in that room. The guard in Celestia’s bed chamber was just an accident, and you said she wasn’t going to eat any of her secret stash anyway; I can accept that. But you knew what you were doing to every pony in that restaurant, all to exploit them into giving you all the free food you can stomach. That isn’t the Cadance I know.”
“I’m sorry. I-I-I just got carried away. I thought…perhaps, *hic-hilp*, if I chose someplace owned by rich ponies, having a feast there wouldn’t hurt them as much as…”
Cadance stopped herself from saying more, but by the look of the colt’s face, he was able to piece it together.
“As much as Mr. Sprinkle’s ice cream shop?” He hung his head down, his tone of voice becoming choked up. “He wasn’t the last either, was he? It all makes sense now. All the extra food you’ve been getting these past few weeks. You’ve been hypnotizing other ponies all over Canterlot, haven’t you?”
“Yes, okay? I did. I didn’t think I was hurting any pony. They would all just forget, *hic-hilp*, the next day, and it was only a few free meals. It was all so tasty, and I was getting so big, it just…felt so good. I honestly didn’t think it was a big deal.”
“But it is, Cadance. Don’t you see? Look at all the ponies you’ve hypnotized tonight. You’re getting greedier, and more careless with your magic. You’re lying and forcing other ponies to satisfy your own gluttony. If this is who you are now, then I…I don’t know if I can follow you down that path.”
Like the plethora of food she had gorged on that very night, Cadance’s heart sank down to the pit of her stomach. Her body trembled with anxiety and fear of losing him, the one pony who put up with her hedonistic habits, and even believed in her dream of one day surpassing Celestia’s fattest size. Seeing him so hurt ate her up inside like her own ravenous hunger. The throbbing numbness in her head added to her overall discomfort, and also spurned an idea, one last act of desperation.
“You’re right,” said Cadance, “tonight was, *hic-hilp*, a mistake. But it’s okay, because…if I use my spell on you, you’ll forget any of it ever happened.”
“Don’t you dare,” Shining Armor stomped his hooves. “You’ve used that nasty spell enough for one night. It’s starting to hurt you.”
“I’m strong enough, *hic-hilp*, for just one more. I swear it’ll make everything better. You’ll forget, and we can be happy again tomorrow.”
“Cadance, no! Stop it!”
The alicorn channeled her magic faster than she ever had before, enduring the pain of her throbbing head to perform one final spell. The dimly lit streets sparked with a glow of pink light, followed by a shower of magical dust dissipating into the air like cinders from a burning flame. Cadance moaned from her discomfort, blinking the blurriness from her eyes before looking down at the colt. To her shock and dismay, his irises remained their natural blue, and the sloppy grin accompanying her zombified subjects was instead the same scowl of anger.
“W-what? I don’t get it. W-why didn’t the spell work?”
Shining Armor heaved a defeated sigh. “It probably didn’t work…because I already love you. And it didn’t take any magic to make that happen.” He turned back toward the street and slowly began walking off. “Please, don’t come to foal-sit for Twilight anytime soon. I’d like some time alone for a while.”
As the colt walked down the dark and lonely road, Cadance called out to him with an outstretched hoof. “Shining Armor,” her voice cracked with grief, “are you…going to tell Celestia…about any of this?”
The colt looked back one final time before continuing on, not speaking a word. The princess sobbed under the blue glow of the stars and moon, friendless and devoid of the very love she had forced onto other ponies in the past weeks. The weight of her decisions bore down on her heavier than any amount of bountiful curvage or sloshing lard, without the slightest inkling of pleasure to brighten her night. As the silhouette of Shining Armor faded into the darkness, the princess wept into her own cushiony arms all alone. Despite her stomach being stuffed to the brim, in all of Princess Cadance’s life, she had never felt more empty.
-----------------------------------------
In the coming days, Princess Cadance continued to dabble in her powers of manipulating other ponies through her love magic.

Chapter 3: (You Are Here)
Princess Cadance takes Shining Armor to a gourmet restaurant, but shocks the colt with an unsettling misuse of her love magic.
