Good job Bess! And as for the rules for the game... that book is needed. The long and short of it is collecting the triangles and filling your space all the way up. Enjoy.

Ok. I will try to keep the rules to the game brief
The player who gets to begin the game is decided between the players, does not matter which color you pick.
Pieces and Moves
On your turn, you can move every piece up to three (3) "moves" outside your city space. You get double moves in your city space.
Once a piece is moved, you must flip it over to show you have moved the piece. (Each piece has one (1) red triangle and one (1) blue circle on each side to indicate the piece has been used that turn. Before the end of your turn, you must have the symbols matched across all your pieces, even if you decide not to move a piece).
When entering an enemy city, each piece can only move two (2) times. (This includes picking up a resource/piece/boat from outside the city border that is inside the city's border). The first person to fill their city with resources wins, though there is another way to win.
Ships
Ships can move four (4) spaces from whichever side the player picks as the bow of the ship; turning the ship does not count as a move but can only be done when the ship is being moved. (You move it forward one place and turn it one space in the same step. You can do this each time the ship needs to be moved.)
Ships can only move in water spaces. Three (3) pieces can move the ship onto land and transport it to new waters. A ship can carry four (4) pieces, or four (4) resources, and/or four (4) pieces carrying one (1) resource each.
Ships cannot move recourses on or by themselves. An opposing player can steal your ship if they can get four (4) pieces on your ship and must use four (4) pieces to move it across land. If an opposing player gets the ship back to their city, they can exchange it for their extra ship, gaining it as their own.
Players can capture opposing players pieces by stacking three (3) of their pieces and using a move to "persuade" one (1) opposing players piece to join them. The stack of 3/1 now loses one (1) move until they place the opposing piece in their city space, upon which the opposing piece is converted to your side. You win as soon as you capture the seventh piece.
Divine Acts of the Gods (Cards)
Each player gets three (3) randomly assigned cards. These cards can only be used once per turn and have two (2) options on them: Smite and Bless.
Smite cards are used to undermine your opponent; these can range from moving an opponent’s piece(s), to instantly converting an opponent’s pieces, to resources vanishing from your opponent’s city (out of play/ a random spot on land or on water/ to your city.)
Bless cards are used to the player’s benefit. From gaining an extra move (up to double) to freeing your piece from captivity.
Resources brought into your city must be stacked from bottom layer to top layer until the city is filled with resources and/or your pieces.
You can take back a piece that is currently captured by a stack of three but has not yet been placed in the opponent’s city: this happens when you take a stack of two and use a move to take your piece back.
Friend helped with edits to the game rules so far. I'm sure there's more in missing and needing to refine further, but if you'd like to give the game a try, let me know what you think so far. <^\/^>
