Remnant Symbiote Concepts
On my discord server, Ive been working on more world building with friends. And this has been sitting around for awhile, but I figured I should post it! Meet the Remnants, strange, worm like creatures formed from the Vermillion realm on Kitaag.
When found normally, they sit at about four feet long or so, with a shiny, almost tar like body, and an odd masked head. However, once they encounter a sapient creature, the Remnant will almost always try to reach for the individual and... well, merge with them. The Remnant's form spreads out over their chosen host, becoming a second skin of sorts, and the symbiote -can- take control. However, in most cases, the symbiote usually waits to do that.
The new host finds its mind linked with the damaged one of the Remnant, their senses moving through the symbiote, and their soul; their essence; being linked to that of the Remnant as well. Its a distant, minor, and probably easily broken link. But, over time, the two become stronger as they get used to each other, the binding becomes more sturdy, and the two act more as one.
Even when not wearing the Remnant symbiote, the host shows aspects of corruption along their extremities. Their eyes often show the endless void of the Vermillion too, as it seems to reflect the interior of the mask.
Their powers are strong, as records tell. The symbiote can summon distorted forms of hard light to act like claws and other tools to begin with, but over time, the pairing can warp reality as if it was clay! This allows a form of flight by running and climbing on solidified air, altering the forms of others manually, turning metal to jelly, and more of the like- but only when given enough time to bond.
Records also state that Remnant Symbiotes are formed by those who survive their visit to the Vermillion realm, and eventually die to something else outside of the dimension. The soul is damaged by the process, and memories are wiped, but their skills, talents, personality, and emotions do remain...
Supposedly, given enough time, the two can become one...

mentioning corruption suggests evil intent, yet the succeeding picture would suggest otherwise
I guess I’m just used to the word! Remnant symbiotes aren’t good or evil; they just… are!
Corruption is, by definition, a neutral term! You can corrupt evil with good!
Absolutely adore benevolent symbiotes, and the Remnants definitely scratch that particular itch~
Very interesting creature! id be down to run into them and learn how they work and feel what its like for them to do that to me!
As with all my custom creatures, I’m always happy to help others explore them too. c:
i must how may i explore them and learn about them? id guess, adding on discord right~?
