This is a novelty AM 7 transistor radio made in 1968 by Stellar in Japan. Most of it is made of metal, and weighs about the same as a O scale locomotive. Looks like this model was only made for two years. Has the AM radio section in the coal car, and has two C batteries in the Boiler. Found this one on Ebay. The radio had a bad squeal, and replaced all the old electrolytic capacitors to solve that problem.
Found this 1968 JCPenney ad for it.

OMG IT'S BEAUTIFULLLL, very cute too xD if you didn't say it was radio on the description I would've never guessed. Such a shame more weren't produced.
The second model looks similar. It's just less the coal car with one less transistor, and converted to 9 volts. They made this model from 1970 to the early 80's. Build quality went down hill when manufacturing moved to Hong Kong. It was almost all plastic at the end of manufacturing.
Here is an ad for it in 1970.
