A being formed of a meteor known as the Dark Star. None know its true origin or its true nature. However, all who face it know how dangerous it is; the amount that are still alive is said to be counted on one human hand. His host is Opal, A Gallade who served in the Guild.
Trivia:
Antimatter is the most recent form of Dark Matter, the main antagonist of the base game series. It is debatable if it is the same dark matter from the Kirby series, however, the human-esque form says otherwise, making him his own being.
The Dark Matter from the base series was born from negativity, while the Dark matter in the GENESIS series was born from darkness, not to mention of his parasitic nature.
Based on a line by Antimatter that mentions The Emperor ruling the Nexus alongside an unnamed feminine individual, it seems that he knows about Queen Runihura Remora. It is quite possible that he is one of her creations designed to terrorize the Nexus.
Originally, He was going to be more humanoid in nature. This was changed for the game version, as human sprites don't exist in PMD: Explorers of Sky.
This also changed the lore for him as well.
His parasitic nature is a reference to Mitochondria Eve, the Main antagonist of Parasite Eve, released in 1998. Both antagonists have taken control of their hosts, and even killed them on the inside.
