eX is an insectoid alien from an unknown region of space; seemingly one-of-a-kind, they are very tight-lipped about their species and origin. They have savant intelligence, a photographic memory, a sharp strategic mind, and the ability to learn new skills incredibly quickly.
eX first made a splash in the galaxy with the invention of a new model of warp drive, decades ahead of the standard at the time. Their ownership of the patent made them rich, and their company, Neurveccan Enterprises, began to grow. And grow. And grow, and slowly sink its claws into every industry in as many systems as possible, until it had become not just a company, but a privatized interstellar empire, with eX and their asteroid-sized supercomputer AIs as its commanders in chief.
Personality:
As a leader, eX is ambitious, but measured. They'll carry out their plans with or without the approval of others; if something can be done above-board, it will, and if not, it will be done secretly— through violence, if necessary. As a person, eX is an egotistical megalomaniac, but also very private and guarded. They dislike public appearances, manage their company as remotely as possible, and frequently keep themselves busy with pet projects and schemes.
They project total confidence to anyone they do interact with. If their ego is ever threatened, they'll do anything necessary to protect it. This iron curtain is often a prison; as they skulk within their high-tech homes or futuristic spaceships, eX secretly yearns to be understood— to have friends, and not just allies or underlings— and to be able to let their guard down every once in a while and live a little.
New eX reference! I plan to redo this, honestly (it's good, but I wanna tweak their body proportions a bit more), BUT this is way more accurate than the previous ref so I'm posting it in the interim!
