I got into Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, and one of the earlier activities in that piece was to copy this Picasso image upside-down in order to understand that art is about lines and not about symbols. It's an interesting concept, but sadly the book is more about observational art than it is about creative art.

I remember this exercise from way back when. It's a good one, think you managed the hands better than I did. It's a great way to focus on the shape something takes. It's really quite something just how much work our brains are doing to make any kind of image function.
