CHAPTER 01
Evening comes awakening nocturnal rules in a region where blessing and security aren’t written in any rock. Trees prepare their leaves to swing at air by a cold wind that blows from the West to welcome the Winter while animals and creatures are adapting their wild lives to survive against predators and nature. Not so far, the dungeon saves mysterious and dark treasures that no warrior or wizard had the courage to break the curse that ravages kingdoms and fields, a witchcraft that was born to bring destruction, confusion and disorder. The peace reigned for a few Seasons to survive against what’s to come.
A spot of light brought a clarity in the dungeon entrance. A strong explosion mixed with a roar echoing by forest trembling every trunks and leaves, shaking with nature the rule that was broken. In a fast moment, in the middle of high dust, a creature of black wings went flying with a box on the lap in a velocity to get amazed, dodging every rock falling; followed by a human handling the sword to defend himself against every obstacle before his weapon. The roar of some dragon that falls in disgrace succumbs in the eternal darkness thanks to the warriors that were courageous enough to face the death and win above her, earning the future peace and the sacrilege in being heroes. The couple keep moving, crossing beyond trunks until the bonfire that they made to locate their point. Compass will be useful to return to their village and take a rest that they deserve.
Echoes end in bluff and the couple are safe from the danger, gasping of immense tiredness and breathing to recover the soft air that these trees proportionate. This was the last job after two months that they accepted just to discover which evilness lives under the soil where no animals and humans risked entering. The human called Gary, white of yellow eyes, bald of brown beard and an excellent hunter, nails the sword at soil to uphold and breathe. The creature, a dragoness called Iris of human expressions, down ears, blue horns, dark purple hair and black wings, lands with a sigh still carrying the leather box locked in rusty iron while her bow is hanging on her right thigh.
“Gosh saves us!” shouted Iris tired. “Never again shall we lead with entering the dungeon.”
“The demon nevermore will awake after our visit” it Gary hopes too much. “I had told how strange villagers explained about the dungeon.”
“They said it’s a dragon, others, a ghost and some of them, a vampire wizard” she puts the box on the ground, looking at the sky where leaves make their natural roof. “At least, we survived and we were fast with it “she stretches her spine. “Now I need to light up this bonfire if we don’t want to sleep in hidden eyes.”
Maybe it’s the last time that Gary trusts himself to put his life in an unknown place which nobody described correctly the demon that dwells in the middle of darkness. Now the beast will count his days in eternal darkness. Gary and Iris didn’t suffer too much, but had an elevated headache to dodge against every strike.
Gary sits at grass and puts his sword carefully on his lap to take a look and clean the blade, but his eyes don’t stop staring at the mysterious box that she brought from Hell. The material is old and almost eaten by pests. He doesn’t trust in every reward that he sees, the opposite of Iris that it’s a crown after struggling against such a challenge. Now, what is there in this box, they don’t know. The curse can dwell boxed in leather rather than from huge dragons and corrupted hearts.
“Forget the villagers,” Iris sighed in pause. “Our duty is complete and our payment is inside of this box” she proceeded hopeful with the gold.
