Hee-Ho, howdy folks! Today I bring you some fanart of a video game called Pikmin 2 which released today in Japan on April 29th, 20 years ago in 2004. (Actually, this is wrong considering I'm uploading this super late.)
...Honestly, I'd put "Read Description" in every post I make with my artwork since a lot of them are illustrations, but still- this one kinda hits a little closer to home and I think is rather important. As without Pikmin 2? This entire art channel wouldn't exist, I wouldn't be even attempting artwork, I wouldn't be writing, and I certainly wouldn't be trying to build my own worlds or create original content. All of my artistic roots can be all drawn back to the titular game, called Pikmin. You can see a bit of inspiration sprinkled from Pikmin in my works quite literally everywhere. From how I write my "Data Logs" and how they're from someone else's perspective talking about a greater universe, from some of my character designs- Also don't even get me started on the "Mandrakes" in my original setting, I'd be lying if they weren't inspired by Pikmin in some way.
Although, how did I get here? If you want the answer to that, I kind of joined on the internet pretty early in my life, when I was around... 10ish? Probably? Joining sites like "Fanpop" and later on "Youtube" as I really loved the video game at the time. I wanted to explore the internet and learn if there were more fans of the game. Cause let me tell you, in Elementary School, Middle School, etc? I was heavily bullied for even liking the game and why couldn't I like something "Normal" like "Mario" or "Call of Duty", and I would just... Draw the characters quite a lot and it got me into drawing. The idea of sitting there late night, with the rain, reading the Piklopedia entries and imagining this... Gigantic world that I could not ever possibly grasp. I wanted to learn *MORE* about it and I wanted to make things based off it, theorize- all that sort of stuff. Now, debatably before I became an artist, I was a youtuber, and back in the past I used to make a small video series called "Awesome Pikmin Toys" which is... Really funny to think about. I was just a kid playing with toys and uploading them on youtube and stuff. Making really "weak" stopmotion videos, but I absolutely loved doing them. I started a small series called "Yellow gets left behind", and a couple other Pikmin related series that are... Gone now for some reason. Although don't worry, "King Wollywog Battle" is still up if anyone would want to watch where I got started
Fast forward years later, I start a DA account and start posting what I liked to call the "PiK" series. Which involved... Little Hensley roleplaying with their new online friends about Pikmin related content. Then of course making a "Fake Game" out of it and writing illustrations. I made brand new Pikmin types such as Orange Pikmin (Explosive resistant Pikmin- which I think was used in 251 which was really strange to see one of my old ideas come to life.) oooor Rainbow Pikmin that could camouflage themselves, and the obligatory and completely useless "Lamp" Pikmin that made the area brighter. Back then I tried to "humanize" the Pikmin a little more, or at least give them personalities and made them the main characters. There was "Ravenous Space Bunnies" and other weird characters that would show up. It was... Magical to say the least lmfao, but to tell you the truth, I was heavily bullied in the Pikmin community for many of my ideas. Usually sent weird death threats, people stole my artwork, and even made false accounts to mock and belittle me. I suppose the bullying never really ended for me, but I grew so used to it and numb at this point and I just kept going. I remember even becoming an administrator of Pikcord, and meeting tons of new people and friends and... Yeah, it was quite a lot and without Pikmin I really wouldn't of become the person I am today. I started to research heavily into my topics, such as making theories of how pikmin eat their foods, the gendering of pikmin, the life cycle of an onion, bulborb evolution, sooooo many ideas... Even though no matter how much I tried my best, people would still throw it in my face and or say "I ain't reading all that", and it became pretty miserable. Although, I never did give into any of them, never raged about it, just usually scoffed in their face back and removed them from my sight
...Then I grew up and was starting to become an adult. I started to get a job, and... I guess I just stopped doing Pikmin content for quite a while with my post being very far and in-between. I put the "PiK" series on the shelf before smashing it into a million, tiny pieces and making my own original setting. Of course, some of the characters are still "kinda" there, they may share the same names, but are completely unrecognizable from the originals. Especially, well, "Captain PiK' who kept the name, but none of the personality, character traits, etc-- I guess I felt way too nostalgic to let it go, I mean the character is a red kobold who shares that same fiery passion Red Pikmin do. Only recently and after the upcoming release of Pikmin 4 did I ever return to making Pikmin content. With a brand-new set of characters (You can see Herb and Lavender in the crowd here), new coat of paint, and hey- what's even more crazy is realizing a lot of my old theories were proven right in Pikmin 4. I came back with a brand-new audience of new faces and old faces alike... I don't entirely know what happened, but I always welcome newcomers to the series with open arms. I never, ever want anyone to experience what I gone through, and always want to encourage new artist to make what they like or what they want. It's my goal as an artist, writer, and even world builder to hopefully inspire others. I draw because I want to do such, and because it makes me happy. At the end of the day there's no one else I would rather be than myself, and the universe loves me for well, me, and I'm assured the universe loves you too, no matter how dire things may seem, there will always be hope. As let's be honest... Being a creator of art can be rough, but anyone can make something, you just have to try
If you read all of this? From the very bottom of my heart, thank you. If you really want to see some of my old pikmin content? It still exists out there on my DA account, you just have to go a little deep.
Now I consider this stuff to be relatively "NEW" and all my super old stuff, from over 10 years ago are mostly all stored. Although, I know where they're at irl, and I think I'll post some of them eventually... If anyone would be interested of course seeing the super, super old stuff which I was mostly using circle tool in paint- haha
Until next time everyone, thank you, again, for reading and everyone who supports my content. You are all truly wonderful and have a nice day.
Disclaimer and Copyright: Artwork was drawn by me, TwistedHensley. This is just Pikmin fanart, that's it. Pikmin belongs to Nintendo and what-not. I am not like... associated with Nintendo in anyway, and the Pikmin AU or the "Paradox Theory" is 100% fanart and is completely non-profit and is something I merely do for fun, it is also obviously not connected to any of my other works. It is also loosely based off of Pikmin 4, or a continuation of the story with many different "alternate" events circling around it. Please go and support the official release of Pikmin 4 and well, since this is Pikmin 2 based artwork? Go and support that as well as it rereleased on Switch.
Other Disclaimer: You are allowed to share my artwork as long as I am credited, but do not upload it anywhere else, edit it and or mark it as your own if that wasn't common sense...
Fun Fact: I signed it with "PiK' too since that used to be my signature lmfao- meant to stand for "PikminHensley" which was my old username
