it's quite funny that Mami wouldn't had succumbed to Charlotte had she applied more cautions, which she normally does.
the idea of having Madoka join her later and her warning from Hamura working as a taunt caused her to fight far more recklessly than usual as an attempt to finish the job as soon as possible, so one could argue that she lost her head both metaphorically and then phisically, which makes you wonder if Homura was intentionally trying to cause Mami to act like that, considering both how Mami reacts whenever she discovered the truth in previous timelines, Homura's awareness of it and the fact that Mami is the main person that tries to pull madoka into becoming a magical girl to begin with.
another fun fact is that Mami in episode 3 suggests Madoka to wish for a cake, and Charlotte's obsession with sweets hints at cake being the wish that made her a magical girl to begin with.
