Overheard in the mall at Dundas Square. As I was riding up the escalator out of the food court, this family was on their way down.
I noticed because the mother's reaction startled everybody in a 10 meter radius!
Also, for closure: Rex was fine and quickly collected from the ground floor.

I remember a story of something like this happening at the zoo — thankfully not in an animal enclosure and we could get him back — when I was a kid with an Elmo stuffed animal. Apparently after that they bought a backup to trick me with should I ever lose him. Did not lose him after. Glad the boy got his Rex :’)
