Owlface was born to two rogues, who later gave their single kitten to the ShadowClan. At a very young age, he looked more like an owlet than a kitten due to its resemblance to a round ball of fur. To this day, Owlface doesn’t know he was given away because his parents didn’t need him, or they just wanted to give him a better life.
He was raised mostly by his non-blood older sister, Sparkling Night, and an elder named Storyteller. The elderly cat became like his own grandfather.
Shortly before becoming a apprentice, he escaped from the camp. Little Owlface got caught in the rain and thunderstorm and got lost. Hiding under a tree, he thought to wait out the bad weather there, but lightning struck the tree and it fell right on the kitten’s tail. Owlface survived, and his tail healed, but since then it has been crooked and motionless at the middle and tip. He is still afraid of thunderstorms, which every time reminds him of that terrible day.
During his training, Owlface received all the necessary skills to live in the clan as a warrior. After training, he continued to hone his hunting skills. Even in the Leaf-bare, a warrior could easily catch several mice.
Time passed, and Owlface did not feel at home. One day a tramp named Quatrefoil joined the clan, in whom Owlface found a close friend, taught him life in the clan and taught all the customs and principles.
Even having a close friend didn't stop Owlface from running away in search of a better life. It was hard for him to be among the warlike Shadow cats, and one day, accompanied by the Storyteller, he escaped from the clan. The elderly cat was supposed to lead Owlface to lands that did not belong to any tribe, but both cats were caught in a flood along the way. Owlface, who could not swim, was barely able to pull the Storyteller out of the water and get out himself, after which he met with the River Clan, who had lost their camp due to the flood, and stayed with them.
