(Commission for sandalf )
Sometimes you just need to put a small number of the right people in the right place at the right time to get what you want (namely, an objective location and tons of burning wreckage)
I actually drew this at work. Not many people see what I draw while I'm there, but this time, anyone passing by took at least a good minute to stop and eyeball the lineart. And not a single question asked about why I was drawing animal people. Awwwhhh Yeeaahhhh

wow, this is just so awesome! love all the details here, great job as always
Really? What if they're mass-driver weapons? Metal slugs accelerated to an appreciable portion of the speed of light tend to do a lot of damage to armor.
I don't think a Mossberg 500 cruiser is a mass driver weapon, perhaps firing depleted uranium slugs....
She needs a shredder.

the mossberg, no. that's more for hitting the exposed places, the navy minigun is great for finding weak spots. it's the blade that would be most usefull against power armored targets. I notice not everyone likes to wear their helmets, and armor parts can get blown off. obviously not an assault group, more like leadership support. nice mix of long, short and close range weapons.
if I knew there were people who'd be able to fill the 5 $450 commission slots I'd need to fill every month to keep myself afloat, and maintain that number of clients for a solid year, then maybe. I do the call center thing because it's stable and there's a drug plan, cuz Coop's meds are kinda expensive
i dont mean commission for art for a living, i mean art jobs, i hear people make up to 80,000 a year on art, and your VERY good at it
Go to Russia or China. Here peoples can live without any usual job, only doing commissions.
I work at a call center too. Haaaaate it. But I do get time to draw here and there. My cubicle neighbors ask me to draw things for them. xP
Dude. When I worked at a call center - both times, actually - they steadily took on more business, while not-increasing or outright reducing staff count, until pretty much all day, every day, was calls back to back, and busy times could have well over a hundred calls waiting in queue.
I wish I knew of any halfway sane call centers. The management stupidity would've been much easier to deal with if I didn't get burned out from the complete lack of any time to breathe.

well, the staff have been alright at the place I'm at. they've been in business almost a decade, and they seem to know their limits when it comes to keeping the place running. They dont try to take on more than they can handle, but they do diversify to take on as many different contracts as they can in case something happens. I'm lucky to be on a contract where most of the supervisors are bros.
oooooh I see what looks like references to Halo REACH armor? :D Ms. Sly has a shoulder plate that looks similar to one of the shoulder sets in REACH's ARMORY
"And not a single question asked about why I was drawing animal people. Awwwhhh Yeeaahhhh"
This made me lol
This made me lol
ahah awesome, I've drawn Tatums and draggy a few times too ^^
great job

1. I love how classic the shotgun looks amidst all the future tech.
2. Most people really don't have a problem with animal people. They see it and think Bugs Bunny, or any other cartoon character they have these days. So long as you don't explain it, people won't ask about it. I drew plenty of pictures at my old temp job of animal characters and nobody saw past the fact that it was cartoony.

I think #2 is especially true in the case of anything that looks remotely sci-fi. It doesn't need to look cartoony if it can look alien.
She just decided one day that she was REALLY tired of being flanked from her left side. :V
Actually, I've seen enough asymmetric armor designs that it seems to be almost standard - especially for anyone who might need to handle (and, especially, raise up to aim) a gun. More mobility on the one side so it doesn't interfere with the motion, and/or a sturdy place to brace the stock against. If you're not using standard armor that needs to be suitable for the left- and right-handed alike, but custom-made gear, it makes sense to accommodate such things while otherwise laying on as much protection as is feasible.
Oh, indeed. I wasn't so much referring to the fact that its asymmetrical, because I understand that it is a functional idea that actually looks pretty wicked.
I was referring to that little bit directly in the middle of her left shoulder pad that reads (from the side, and going by the tags I'll assume that's what it says...) "Front Towards Enemy" ...
So either that's just a badass piece of armor, or a REALLY badass piece of armor.

I know this post is practically ancient by now, but what if that piece was a claymore built into the shoulder?
"The best defense" perhaps...

*hugs* On the bright side, you're the first one to read my comment! XD
And I'm a derp kitty myself, no worries. O3o
And I'm a derp kitty myself, no worries. O3o
I've done some "realistic" paintball before, full body armour and all (and EXTREMELY overpowered guns (they had recoil similar to a high-powered rifle)), and I actually used asymmetrical plating like that because the eyesight in my right eye is pretty damaged from pistol-whipped by a dickhead friend, so I found that I needed extra protection on that side, or I would be at a disadvantage. Also had some other uses, but that was the main reason I had it.
May just be me, but the dragon dude on the left looks 100% clinically insane. And he has a minigun.
Doctor prescribed? lol
Doctor prescribed? lol
I have to give badguys a dose of lead every fifteen minutes, 24/7. Or I will cry uncontrollably and hallucinate of my little ponies. And try to shoot them with hallucinated guns... :C
Very nice work on all the armor, as usual, and I like the crazy smile you gave to the guy on the far right too. Guys with guns like that need a crazy smile. XD
Actually, hand anybody a gun like that and let them break some stuff, and probably 80% of people who would take you up on the offer in the first place will have a grin like that by the time they're done.
You work at a call center, right? How is it working there? I was considering applying to one here, but I really can't stand phones and people who call me on them.
Anyhooz. What kinda questions did come up? :O I think it'd be awesome, random coworkers gathering around to watch. xD Do you get a computer there? Drawing onscreen? Or were you using pen/cil on paper?

The phone thing is the easy part. you dont even think of it as a phone anymore. No, usually it's the management that'll drive you nuts.
And I didnt get any questions, mostly "holy shit!" and I draw with pen and paper, since the computers are for work only

Totally badass, and It's pretty cool that no one questioned what you were drawing, that part honestly surprised me lol
You dont Question a pro when he's doing what he's pro at. Grr. Aggressive. Lol. Hahah. I dunno.
Anyways. BA.
Anyways. BA.
Only critique I have is wondering why they bothered with the 'loin cloth' pieces since, well, they're completely armored there. But that's more of a 'tech' question than an art critique :)
The claymore print on the shoulder armor is a sweet detail, man. Sickly awesome work, as always!
Well when you draw this amazingly, who cares what you're drawing xD
This is so super epic in every way~

Amazing pic as always Strype.
And for this one... two thumbs up to your fellow workers regarding your description. Hehehe.. way to go!! ^^

I still love the piece, though.

Very, very, very cool. As always, your armor designs are awesome, and you even make the women look badass scary cool. I love your artwork, man.
In the year 20XX, the SPAS 12 is still a valid answer to all your close-range problems
Actually, that looks a lot like a Remington 870 blown up to 4-gauge. Were it me, it'd be firing 25mm autocannon grenades, since those are almost ideally suited to repurposing in a 4-ga shotgun.
The more you know!
The more you know!
way to one up me. *grumble grumble*
But what do I know? most of my gun knowledge comes from video games XD
But what do I know? most of my gun knowledge comes from video games XD
That's easily fixed. Finding someone willing and able to teach you to shoot is usually fairly easy, and once it's turned into a hobby, the knowledge grows from there. :D
i'd give my soul to get a commission from you.
do you take souls? i can make a body check out pronto XD
beautiful work once again and as always. love the detail you put into armor and the character(s) involved in any piece you do
lol @ people stopping by. perhaps they figured "its art, im not going to ask"

Good lord. The detail. The badassery. @_@ *awesome overload*
I love how all the futuristic weaponry and armor is juxtaposed with one Remington 870 pump shotgun ahhhh the classics never die.
Love this piece!
Love this piece!
Life lesson #49: Don't show this to your boss. It'll end in disaster.
Dragon: Hey enemies! Do you know what time it is? *puts on grin* It's RAPE TIME!
NOTHING COMPARES TO THIS!!!! oh my GOODNESS(thinks he should have a commission done from this awsomness of a artist soon now ))
I am constantly in awe of your armor designs. Seriously, this is amazing work.
Tatums is a dragon, Draggie is a dragon, and Sly is a pantherdragon. So all dragons.
Trying to send you a note, you seem to have added me to your block list.
So much hair in the way. They must be really bad ass if they can work without the use of at least one eye.
Amazing work! I LOVE that fine detail on the blue armor. Seriously epic work ^_^
awesome stuff as usual, kinda confused...is that dragon's wing extending from the left all the way to the right? or do they each have wings? I'm sorta perplexed cause of the detail...
Tatums and Draggie both have wings, so what you see are Draggie's wings.
ha the dragon on the right looks like a sanghelli ( aka elite) from Halo
I've always gawked at your brilliance with just forms alone, but I'll be damned if I don't love your armor designs every time. A favorite of mine was the suit from "Cleansing." I mean, it reminded me of some heavy Terran armor, and an anthro in terran-like armor = Amazing. The detail blows me away.
hmmm.... *inspects it more closely* Eh, I'll stick with my weapon x3 *gives the gun back, sticking with his great-chainsword/hmg (think Haseo's chainsword + gunblade :P)*
Yeah... yeah they're pretty awesome :)
I advise helmets of course; outside of the awesome-guys-beside-wreckage shot.

Hehe, your description made me think of the beginning of HL2.

All I could think about reading the description.

That dragon all the way in the back wins the award for fucking coolest power armor on the planet.
Hoooooooooolllllllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyy shit.
Hoooooooooolllllllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyy shit.
For the love of Fernex! That is plain awesome if I may say so, wonderful work as always!
I really have an intense desire to start making/designing some armor, I've certinally got enough metals/composite materials in the shop to start off with, and I have to say your artwork really inspires some concepts.
This reminds me of weapon Zero it gave me chill, I shall now fav/watch/stalk you
Aaaah this looks amazing!! :D god i love war images just things you dont get to see every day l3
That's it...next time you open up for a non-auction commission, chances are I'll say, "screw it" and find the money somewhere.
E-X-T-R-E-M-L-Y Nice except...armor on your wings and you can't fly. As per my Role Playing Game New World Rising tm.
"...ain't it cool!" - (John Travolta from Broken Arrow)
well I am stating something that can be played before I intend to sell it, as opposed to selling you something then letting you justify if it was worth it. Meaning unlike Wii, X-box, Nintendo, PlayStation or both AD&D and any computer oriented MMORPG, though still only paper and pencil + imagination I don't charge anything either - that is unless if you want the other 90% of the game I don't have on my website! Anyway elephants don't drown they have snorkels.
And eventually I will employ people like Stype to show what is possible in my game, but I can't , yet!
Madras Elephants do, so do 100% cotton and 50% polyester Elephants. Also an Elefant will float as long as it hasn't been opened yet, especially the talls in aluminum cans.
Well, I am in the midst of an elephant expert o-o
-tips imaginary hat- you win this round.
-tips imaginary hat- you win this round.
hehehe Elefant is just one of the Many-many things in my eidetic memory I used to tell a lot of elephant jokes as a kid too back in the late Renaissance.
FOR SEVEN MONTHS I have neglected to answer this because I'm dim-witted. Now I have thought of it. The armor protects my wings... and have ROCKET BOOSTERS. By moving my wings around, I can steer them. TAKE THAT, GRAVITY AND SCIENCE FICTION!
Turbo-mechanical assists. You are not flying with your wings, Strap those boosters to a wet crowbar and you can achieve the same glide angle as any 747, loose power and lets see you fly now with pot bellied stoves on your wings!
Still a good piece though, even seven months later
Still a good piece though, even seven months later
This is crazy awesome, I love it. I also really seeing all the armor you come up with in such, it's always so dang awesome.
Just... Badass! The detail is excessively awesome, and your tags made me laugh like always. Faved.
HOLY JESUS, YOUR LINES AND TEXTURES ARE GORGEOUS. I like the blue one in the back... Everyone loves the crazies. lol
I might have said this already with another picture, but I'll say it for these guys as well. I would LOVE to see these guys in a videogame.
Who to fear?
The crazy psycho in the back or the smiling shotgun at front?

SHWEET SHTUFFFF MAN
It's funny, cause my bro hates furries
but we both play this RPing thing
I've introduced "nereidians" (the furry race, strange, I know) into the game...
and the bastard's going to have to contend with stuff as awesome as this.
"OH, YOU HATE FURRIES?! WELL THEY IS HELPING TAKE OVAH YOUR PLANETZ NOOB, WATCHA GUNNA DO 'BOUT IT?!"
Again, awesome picture, man. I envy you.

The lizard with the Gatling gun seems so... happy... Then again if I had that kinda kit I'd be tittering like an imbecile.
Freaking awesome laser sword, powah suits and the good ol' lead dispatchers... HOW COULDN'T YOU FAVE THIS?
Also the dragon dude with the "BRING EM' ON" look, Awwwhhh Yeeaahhhh...

LOVE the design on tatum's armor, the shape of which almost makes him look like an Alien! Etched-in-steel sharpness as always to your characters. Interesting double blade sandalf has. Enrgy projection? FUNNESS!
that´s so damn badass with the design AND that uberness of details D:
SO MANY COMMENTS - I thought I'd NEVER stop scrolling XD
If I had the money to pay you for a commissioned piece, I think you'd enjoy drawing my fursona. It's not like full armor like some of your other pics, but you can freestyle my bionic right arm and make it into something you would want ^_^
I may consider if there's a group picture such as this one - maybe like a Left 4 Dead style pic? 4 survivors back-to-back packing with weaponry from the game :D
Awesome art as usual, Strype :D

Well done!

Tatum's manic grin, armour and minigun just...I don;t think the human language HAS enough words for 'epic badass'
Seriously need to practce my armour designs. Think that everytime I see your stuff dude. Excellent stuff.

I think I equal parts envy/hate you for having/being part of a Strype commission (hate in a friendly way, naturally ;P )
Also; Miniguns, my good sir. I approve of your quality choice in firearm.

This is amazingly detailed (lol probably the umpteenth comment w/ the word Detailed), but one just has to stand back and admire this work. Nice job!
Pshhhh lucky. I ALWAYS get wierd looks/statements when drawing anthros in public. Always. CX

Okay, I'm just wondering, does the style of their armor regard rank, or is it simple personal preference? Lol, I know, but I Am curious.
That is ( I wish I had a word for this artwork) this is shocken super bad ass!
O_O
I really, really ought to commission you sometime. Words cannot describe just how awesome this and your other works are.

A very impressive trio!
Man, I really must be able to win a commission from you one day. I would love it!
Good to hear people are starting to accept anthropomorphics better nowadays. I've been noticing this around me too, people seem not to care if its an animal or a human.

very nice, also with lines as nice as those you do i would worry more if they were more concerned with you drawing animal people and, not impressed as hell at the sheer level of awesome
The one in blue reminds me of the grin i'd have if i were carrying a minigun XD
Wow. I love this piece. And about the no questions about the anthro subject matter at work, I think most people who have no preconcieved notioins of anthro art or of furries really don't think it's weird at all.
I got to say that my favourite is the blue guy in the back.
Looks awesome with a lil bit of crazy mixed in.
