What did it mean to let one's self heal? Not to forgive— she wasn't sure if she was capable of such kindness anymore... But, to move forward?
Grow a garden.
Initially, such ludicrous advice was scorned. Any tenderness she once possessed, any capacity to nurture and love, was buried beneath blood and betrayal. And yet... something stirred, seeing the way the stubborn blossom persevered. Through ice and snow, through her wrath and moonless centuries, it alone remained. A fragment of a beautiful past that was no more.
No... Iseldrllyr didn't believe she was capable of such love anymore— of gentleness and care. But perhaps... perhaps, she could learn again.

Ahh this piece is something really special to me, honestly. It features a scene that's heavily inspired by a story written between a dear friend and myself, based on advice given to the very wayward Queen of the North to tend to her own garden. It's not easy— and it isn't anything that can remove years upon years of self-neglect and pain instantaneously. But, it's a start. The wilted flowers and the one that survives show how she's been trying, with much failure, but still, like the sole flower that survives, Iseldrllyr keeps on trying, too, regardless of how much it hurts to do so. There are so many small details about this art that I love. The size difference and hesitance of touching such fragile flowers with a claw, the outstretched wing protecting the flower from snowfall, to her own expression of vulnerability and struggle... I just really, really love it! I enjoy these emotional pieces so much.
I think this piece has started to really hit home with me too, personally, and it makes me love it all the more. The overall moral of the story? Even with everything that may be going on or how much you've endured, regardless of how ugly life can seem at the moment, there's still beauty that will persist. Small things that can make you start to cherish again. It doesn't take away from the hurt, no. But, it's a start. And, like it, you can only try your best to hang in there, too. <3
Rambling aside, I absolutely love this art— Yanir did an amazing job, and I couldn't be happier with turning this touching scene that's been lingering in my mind's eye into a reality.
