But it might also mean that The Collapse hasn't happened yet - or, maybe, it means that it happened so long ago that anthros in this storyline are far descendants of whatever was left on Earth, and we're seeing the creation of Destiny 3. X3

Yeah, you'd have to go back in the series a bit. LONG ago, they're doing the super-science thing, and there's only about 1/8th of the original Earth left. Like, it had to be recrafted to be habitable. This was bad for those living on the planet, but bunkers like this were left behind.
Also, this has happened several times, each time taking more of the planet with it. This is their last chance. One more "event" and there will be no matter left to craft anything habitable. Also the thing that caused this may have already consumed the rest of the universe? That part isn't clear
A thought that comes to mind is what or who's been taking out these systems so its down to possibly one?
I can imagine quite a few got taking out by the Viltrin entity took huge bites out of this planet. But wouldn't this last piece have at least a few of these facilities to help monitor the shield?
