Would that count as a lie or just circumventing the truth to save a possibly ally? These woods are certainly not barren. There is still a sociopathic hare roaming around with her band protecting the Hollow in her own way.
Swift is really trying to play the strong apex predator here intimidating her prey. But she knows she is outnumbered here with a Marten being on her adversaries side additional to Oren and the others with their "teeth" that she knows can be very deadly. And with her leader instinct she 100% realized that the prey may show fear but do not cower one bit especially that old hare who already has a death stare on her (Hemlock would be proud of that).
I expect her leaving with those eggs too feed her pups and mate and to think over how to possibly take over that feast of prey. Hope she comes to a positive conclusion as we know this is her only hope to survive as the bisons and the wolf pack will hunt her down and the pass is not traversable with the mountain lions there.

I am wondering if she is taking their measure. By that I mean, if this is a place where she might bring her family to stay, she would want to see what type of creatures are ready to defend it, and how effective they are in doing that. Prey will run. Prey will always run. No one is running. Yet.
Love the mix of expressions in the second panel and the gamut of emotions when facing an intense and dangerous situation.
Gotta hand it to Cotton, in every engagement he's been the most nervous, but always seems to swallow it and hold his ground. Low key a great example of a creature in the hollow coming to their own terms with fear.
