I suppose I mean more stand in for ‘people’ rather than humans.
And as far as ‘people’ go, I tend to think more in terms of fantasy or sci-fi setting.
Humans, Orks, Elves, Dwarves, Vulcans, Wookies, Twi’leks, Klingons, all ‘people’, All diverse.
But maybe it’s just the predator/prey thing that never sits well with me due to unfortunate implications.
Anyway, I guess we’ll see what the plot point is, but it just seemed unexpected.

not far of what me and my partner wrote. advanced humans splice animal DNA onto some of their population > Planetary extinction level event > seed ships. > millennia and natural evolution. > galaxy full of humans (Homosapian), human animals (varies), humanoid animals (hom-animal-genus) and a lot of in-between.
