Desires are often simple. Achieving them is seldom so.

Webster's English Dictionary defines "desire" as "to long or hope for".
(And while I realize the common vernacular prefers its use as a synonym for "sexytime", I tend to agree with Webster on this one.)
I had FAR TOO MUCH FUN on this image. WINGS EVERYWHERE, all different types, with gears and steampunk thrown in amongst both physics, anatomy, and pure fantasy. Plus I finally got the excuse to draw one of those dangling "flying bird" toys. :3
Prismacolor inks and markers on sketchbook paper. This served as a reminder to me that Prismacolor markers and I really do get along just fine when those Copic Jezebels aren't around, and gave me some good solid proof that one can render a convincing "chalkboard" with nothing more than a fine-tipped whitepen...
In other news, this is apparently what happens when I spend 12 hours with no TV, no Internet, no company, and no freedom to leave the house until the Comcast tech shows up. (A neighbor's Verizon FiOS tech cut my cable line when they came out to the building on Friday...and promptly fled the premises, leaving BOTH of us without cable/internet. Which is as good a reason as any I've come across for NOT switching to FiOS...)

The message behind this picture is all at once very sad and very inspirational. But all together vey powerful. I really like it. And from an artistic standpoint the whole thing is really beautifully done. Granted, I'm a little biased, being a steampunk fan and all. But it's the smaller details like the wooden paneling and the shading that really bring this piece to life.
