Like I said, this still needs a good polishing.
This knife had a 5" recurved blade, and is 8" overall. It's forged from spring steel, most likely 1095, and ought to hold an edge well. I went for elegant and graceful file work, and I hope I achieved it. This was originally intended as a harvesting knife for herbs or mushrooms, or for ceremonial purposes, but it decided against vegetarianism and has given me no fewer than four non-superficial cuts. Hence the name 'Kyuketsuki,' or 'Vampire.'
I'd like to put this piece on the auction block. Considering the amount of work (and blood) that's gone into this knife, I'd like to ask a starting bid of $120. It's mid-November, folks; great chance for a one of a kind gift that keeps on shiving.
Now sent to BC as part of a Secret Santa gift.

That is possibly the best pun I've heard all month. ^_^ Oh, how I wish I could afford it. O.O Prettyyyy *graspy fingers* WANT.
Hey, I wish I could drop the price for you, but I keep getting scolded for underselling, and finishing the recurve in this knife has taken a ridiculous amount of time (which, in retrospect, may be why you don't often see recurved knives). Once I get my gas forge up and running I may be able to come up with something that I can put a lower price tag on. For now, I appreciate the interest - thanks!
I made it to work like a small sickle, so practically speaking it's for cutting herbs, flowers or whatnot. On the other hand it makes a nice fantasy knife for collecting, costuming or ceremonial purposes. It makes an unparalleled letter opener, and in a pinch it's appropriate for ritual sacrifices. Anyhow, thank you!
I was playing this MMO "Champions online"- my character is an archer and had knives on her front... I was talking to this dude that owns 10 bows, 30 odd knives, and he made me change my costume because an archer would not wear knives there lest they stab themselves :P
This is a gorgeous piece, and 120$ is, I think, quite generous; how many hours went into this fetching blade?
Thanks! I'm still learning, so there's more time in this knife than there ought to be. Let's just say that I'm paying myself below minimum wage - maybe 15 hours or so. Should have taken just two or three hours of finishing after the forge work, with the right equipment and experience.
*nods* I can understand that. I'm getting fast enough with my chainmaille now that I can charge a fair price for it, but my drawing and painting may never get there x3
I'm a long way from getting a forge set up that I'm happy with, but since my focus is mostly on armor, rather than armaments, it can afford to wait. A lot of medieval armor work can be done with simple machine shop techniques... but I've been dying to try this kind of stuff.

While this is nice enough conceptually, there are a few things that keep me from considering this in the $120 price range.
Is there any special reason that you're back to bother me again, Mr. Helpful?
I apologize I thought this section was used to comment on the work that has been posted.
Comments are fine. Critique is fine; but you don't critique. You drag submissions through the muck based on a knee-jerk decision whether or not you like the person who submitted it, and you do so without knowing or caring about the craft you insult.
The first thing you did when you joined FA was to come after me over shit that you have no context for and no business sticking your nose into. It's uncanny; as though you were either looking hard for someone to harass and I just happened to win that happy little lottery, or that you joined FA specifically to harass me, which I'm not putting outside of the realm of possibility on account of my mentally ill cyber stalker.
Your appearance here and continuance in being a jackass marks you at least as a stalker, whether or not you are that original stalker. Either couth up or move on, or I will get the admin involved.

I'm sorry, I had a hard time sorting through the "word salad" that you posted. I definitely dont consider myself a stalker. I have commented on numerous submissions and journals and left honest thoughts about anything that I stumble upon. I havent received such bizarre, nasty feedback from anyone else. I assumed based on the fact that you posted a price along with your submission that you were looking to sell it. I merely stated that I liked the idea, but that there were "a few things that keep me from considering this in the $120 price range". I will soon be posting my salable works and encourage/expect the community to provide feedback regarding price and quality. My comments speak for themselves and I stand by all of them.
hey jerk, this knife appears to be finely crafted! I am impressed with the finish and the handle. I would consider purchasing up into the $10,00-11,000 price range.
