Anarchy would be a fun concept, but it can never truely last :( Its sad. cause there will always be someone who has to take charge, or people who flock to someone for protection and such.

Anarchist theory — at least the coherent branches of it — doesn't actually describe a lack of leadership, protection, or even governance. It's simply a lack of formalized hierarchy. In practice, leaders emerge and recede naturally based on who wants to take charge on particular issues. You see this every time, for example, you and a bunch of friends all decide you're hungry, and then manage to collectively agree to go out for pizza. Scaling this up to a larger society is obviously more nuanced, but it's still the same basic principle.

In fact, you can also see anarchism at work by looking at international relations — 195 autonomous actors, coexisting with no official hierarchy. Obviously, it's not perfect, but you can't say it's a complete failure either.

I usually prefer to use the word "adhocracy" rather than "anarchy", because it more accurately describes what's going on: ad-hoc governance that's not set in stone, and shifts to fit whatever the people's needs are. This worked rather well at Occupy Wall Street in my experience, and is how most Pirate Parties run themselves internally. The Mondragon Corporation is a pretty adhocratic institution as well, and it's had about 50 years to figure out what works.

But dancing around on a smashed-up police car with a big black flag is more fun than all this brainy-thinky-stuff.

I'm just gonna nod to all of this because I honestly have nothing whitty to say in response, which is unlike me.
