8 x 8 ink by rapidograph pen
Came across this recently and just really looked at it close for the first time since I drew it. I remember working on this but don't remember why I didn't finish it. Done mostly with the finest nibs.
Was at an art store yesterday and my son saw a set of 6 Koh-i-nor radiograph pens much like the ones I used and wants me to get him the set. I may use them to finish up this piece. :) It'll be interesting to finish a work in progress of 34 years.

Love the expression -- nice bit of artwork. Quick question though -- was the whole thing done with Rapidograph pens? Only thing is, I wasn't aware they made the ink in any colour other than jet black (which if they're the same as the UK-spec Rotring Rapidographs is basically India ink)...

I used every color ink that Higgins made at the time and would mix the colors to suit, just plain old non-rapidograph ink, not diluted at all. Used it in all size nibs. Clogged once in a great while but not a problem, just shook the little weight/wire thing up and down a few times and the flow would usually start right back up. One thing that did help was the fact that the nibs at that time were clear and I could see what was happening at inside. I rarely used my dip pens once I started using Rapidographs. Used them for five years till I stopped drawing in 1979.
The other 3 ink stippling color pieces in my gallery were all radiograph only using regular ink.
