Simple answer .... No...
Longer - This is a one time event that will try some ideas out. And a lot of the ideas will be convention like activities. It is longer and have more activities than other of our hotel events MNFurs has held in the past. But it's a non repeating event and we take the name convention seriously. When the organization is set up with enough organization, volunteers, and a set time. That's when we will start using convention in the name.

Honestly it's a matter of opinion. As stated above, the main thing is that this is a one time event. Technically, given it's at a hotel and has programming it might be considered a convention, but that word usually implies that it will be a regularly repeating event.
We will eventually (in all likelihood) have a convention. Think of Snowpocalpyse, OMFG, and Cat Days as baby steps to that goal.

As Aerak mentioned. It's a matter of opinion.
In some groups picnics are conventions. Blue Heeler's BBQ were conventions on that scale.
So it's a matter of semantics in some way :)

sorry to break this but the cat's expression makes me think of Pedobear DX
