This was a superb image I got from 
desingahv from their dragonball special.
Ryu got a little Saiyan blood in him along with some bad ass armor and after hitting the emotional stress needed, transformed into a Super Saiyan. His dragon blood and prowess in combat gave birth to an incredibly powerful technique; the 10x Kamehameha something thought only a Super Saiyan 4 could achieve.
Ryu is using this form to protect his loved ones and I may include this as a special ability of his seeing how awesome he looks decked out in Saiyan Armor and that awesome shade of gold. ^^
