The thing about asking someone out, is quite simple (says the one who offers advice but rarely follows it himself).
You can't, as you put it, simply ask one out just by asking the person out.
You gotta have a plan, a watertight, foolproof, chimpansee secured plan.
Such as "Ooooh I heard about a movie showing soon, wanna go watch it with me?"
And from there on I tend to botch it all up myself..
