Dunkleosteus was a large Placoderm that lived in the late Devonian period, about 380–360 million years ago. It grew to around 33 feet, and was probably the top predator of its time.
It was a primitive fish, with it's skull consisting of a series of bony plates. Teeth had not yet evolved, and instead it simply had one large bony "blade" to slice through its prey.

Dunky!
My favorite ancient fish!
So evil looking that he's beautiful.
The armored freight train of the Devonian seas.
Have you seen the walking with dinosaurs; sea monsters documentary with Nigel Marven?
It has a great segment devoted to Dunkleosteus.
