Lystrosaurus (meaning "shovel lizard") was a herbivore dicynodont reptile that lived in the Permian to Triassic. About the size and weight of a smallish pig, Lystrosaurus was a classic example of a dicynodont therapsid--the "mammal-like reptiles" of the Triassic period.
