Victorian AU: The Little Chimney Sweep

"Chim chiminey, chim chiminey, chim chim cher-ee!
A sweep is as lucky As lucky can be!"
Vyrn is an orphan with a good heart and a tough life. He works as a chimney sweep for a boss that cares little for the health of his little "employees." Children are the perfect prey for this cruel business: their small size allows them to fit inside a chimney, they can be easily manipulated, and best of all - they are cheap. Afterall, the streets are filled with homeless urchins in need of "care" (or families desperate to have one less mouth to feed).
Vyrn comes to the Fyrre twins in a time where his sweetness and innocent, non-judgemental affection is deeply needed by the pair. They can't help but fall in love with the little boy, and pay him a visit in the town square every day... until a day comes when he doesn't appear.
Worried, they search for him desperately, and eventually are taken to his boss. There, they learn Vyrn is ill, suffering from some lung disease from all the soot, ash and smoke inhaled during his worktime.
The Fyrre fortune comes from a big and successful pharmaceutical company - funded by Grandmother Inorys and now administrated by the twins - and they will do everything they can to save the little boy's life.

He looks so sad in this picture. although my love for history makes me feel even more for him since I understood from that time period. Despite there being laws in place that forbid the employment of children under the age of 10 as chimney-sweeps. they were still being hired for the job because there was no enforcement or punishments issued for those that broke those laws.
And I know what is making Vyrn sick. the toxic chemicals that were found in soot. Also, it could be the early signs of Chimney-sweeps' Cancer.
