New icon.
Nine years ago when I made this account, the puzzle piece imagery was still acceptable at the time as long as it wasn't a blue puzzle piece symbolizing Autism $peaks. Over time that's changed, and so I've updated the icon to reflect that.
I nuked all of the shouts on the page. If I knew how to disable them I would do that, as people are needlessly rude and dramatic to others.
My official stance as the creator to this page is that I do not, and will not ever, support A$ or any organization that promotes cures, vaccine-hysteria, eugenics, ableism, anything of the sort.
However, I'm also not keeping this page up to date. I've removed the old terminology as well as the quote by Temple Grandin.
Hopefully, the icon is more inclusive for everyone.
Be safe, be kind, and take care of yourself.

thank you.
I forget.
Over time I've learned quite a bit about how problematic she is and the things she supports. I don't support her myself anymore.
This gives me a lot to think about. I still think of her as someone who helped usher in a new age of understanding and therapy for autistics. But that's where it ends. Thanks for the link c:
Also, the puzzle piece is perfectly acceptable. Say what you want about it, but at least it actually represents the struggle autistic people like me have to fit in with the rest of society (and actually predates Autism Speaks), whereas the rainbow infinity symbol is way too obscure and says nothing about what it actually means to be autistic.
I don't see what the problem is with quoting Temple Grandin either. I find it strange that you would remove it with no real explanation. It looks like you're trying way too hard to avoid offending people, especially considering the fact that nobody was offended to begin with.
I have always typed it 'A$' to represent their greed for money. It's a several years-long habit and I don't particularly care to change it either. It works well in places like twitter where algorithms will pick up on things too.
As for the symbol, you are free to use what you want, wherever you want. Many people dislike the puzzle symbology. Many people equate it to Autism Speaks instead. Look it up sometime if you care to.
Also, I dislike Temple Grandin the more that I've learned on her. She's said some problematic things before such as "In an ideal world the scientist should find a method to prevent the most severe forms of autism but allow the milder forms to survive.” This quote is incredibly ableist as it advocates for eugenics and uses outdated functioning labels that stigmatize autistic people. This is only one of her many problematic quotes.
I chose not to support her anymore, and thus removed her quote from my page. Simple. *shrug*
Times change and so does the imagery that we use. Sometimes different symbols take on whole new meanings as cultures and attitudes towards different things change, which unfortunately is the case for the puzzle piece. It's sadly associated with a lot more harm than good now, so I say it's a welcome change.
