What is Agender?
Posted 8 years agoWhat does agender mean?
Agender means ‘without a gender’ or ‘no gender’. Therefore, people who identify as agender do not experience having a gender.

Do I have to be asexual or aromantic to be agender?
You don’t have to be asexual or aromantic to be agender. Agender people can identify as any number of sexual or romantic orientations.
Do I have to experience body dysphoria to be agender? Do I have to want to change my body to be agender?
You don’t have to be dysphoric to be agender. You don’t have to feel any certain way about your body to be agender. You don’t need to want to make any kind of changes to your body to be agender.
But what if I still like ____? Does that make me any less agender?
You can be agender and still like things that are considered feminine or masculine. You can be agender and still use she/her or he/him pronouns. You can be agender and still like your given name. None of these things make you any less agender than anyone else.

What are demi-genders?
Demi-genders are gender alignments where a person either partially identifies as something in addition to something else or sometimes identifies as something in addition to something else. For example, demigirls are people who partially identify as girls as well as something else or are people who sometimes identify as girls and at other times identify as something else. Other demi-genders include demiboys as well as people who are demiagender.
How do I know if I’m agender? How do I know whether I’m totally agender or if I’m demi- or genderfluid?
What term you identify with depends on which one fits what you feel the best and which one you’re the most comfortable with. You don’t have to choose only one. For example, people who identify as a demi-gender may also identify as genderfluid or bigender. Some people may identify primarily as agender but also feel that they are a demigirl or demiboy. What term(s) you identify with are a personal thing and it may fluctuate or change over time, which is normal and which makes your identity no less valid than any other.
How do I come out as agender?
Every coming out is different and no two are the same. The way you come out depends entirely on your own circumstance and what is the most comfortable and safe for you. Your safety is the number one priority and you are not obligated to come out if it’s unsafe for you or even if you just don’t want to or aren’t ready.
