Sad news for aviation modelling world
Posted 18 days agoWas watching James May show on airfix kits the other day and somebody on the comment section brought to my attention that Roy Cross, the artist behind airfix' boxarts had passed away on the 24th of last month.

His arts had graced countless childhood memories and may they keep bringing inspirations for many generations of model builders and aviation enthusiasts to come. Rest in peace , Roy
Thank you so much to rabbi-tom for taking his time to draw this great tribute:

Threads
Posted 10 months agoThe other day, a coworker asked me over lunch whether or not i've seen this new stuff they call 'Threads'. I noticed it was being talked over social media quite a lot these last few weeks, so i took the time to voice my concern.
Why does, in all of a sudden, zoomer likes seeing Sheffield getting nuked?!

Thought on Top Gun
Posted 2 years agoWent to saw the new Top Gun earlier tonight, halfway in i was squeeling to myself "Holy shit! The Iranians and Israelis DID pulled this stunt against Iraq back in 1980s! Someone in Hollywood finally did their homework!"
Or i guess Top Gun just have the knack of dramatizing international incidents. For those not in the knows, the combat scene of the first Top Gun was also somewhat inspired by Gulf of Sidra Incident in 1981, when two F-14s (Fast Eagle 102 and 107) splashed two Libyan Su-22 over Gulf of Sidra.
The story is pretty good as well but i won't say much about it, i'm just glad it's not another woke-ass shit Hollywood been churning for the past half-decade.
Verdict? Finally a damn sequel that is worthy of its original. Kudos to all the team that made this amazing flick possible.
Discussions are very welcomed! Be back with new arts soon!

Happy Holidays!
Posted 6 years agoFirst of all, happy holidays to you all my friends, hope you all have a great time with friends and family.
This semester has been a tough and busy one with lots of deadlines to catch, but I managed to finish them all, including engineering design work and thesis proposal, barely in time. Hard, but fully manageable.
Control system proved to be the most difficult subject I've encountered so far in engineering department. However, passed with flying colours.
So, here I am sitting on the backseat of a Boeing 777 en route to Japan, where I'll spend the rest of 2017. High density (3-4-3) configuration unfortunately, as usual at this season. I'll be back with commission slots next year. until then, happy holidays!

It's a Terrible Time to be 21
Posted 6 years agoYeah, i remember when i was a kid in the 90's, the talk was secession of East Timor and Gulf War back then. Local newspaper had this half-page spread infographic of types of weapon used by coalition force in iraq, that's where i first learned of cluster..
Wait. no. that was the OIF back in 2003, i was 7 when i read that article, my 7-years-old-self thought cluster munition was awesome. I believe it has the picture of brand-spanking-new CBU-97, of course i can't indentified it back then but it was green and the nose was very blunt, can't be Rockeyes. I don't know exactly when i first interested in aviation, but that surely one of many things that had inspired me.
Or maybe it runs on my family, my mother was a stewardess back then, back when my country still allowed on United States and Europe. Heh, it just occured to me that i might have been flying long before i was born! When i was older my father would take me to the airport and let me saw the aircrafts from the perimeter fence (my art "round the perimeter track" was inspired by this), i stood there looking at a stripped down DC-10 and thought if i could be on the other side of the fence.
Now that's another funny thing to think, just recently i worked on the other side of that fence, seeing and working on the aircrafts up close and personal. It's just an internship and might not seems much, but it was a little boy's dream came true, and just a month before i turned 21. I am the happiest guy on earth! (well maybe not, but still, it was the best birthday present ever!).
So, to sum up
HAPPY WORLD HELICOPTER DAY EVERYONE!!

Summer is back
Posted 8 years agoFirstly i'd like to remind you on where i left last time and update my current situation
I'm done with this semester, and that deserves a paragraph
Apologize for not coming back sooner, mostly because of some Illustration jobs that i took last month, quite lot more than i can chew really, but still manageable - and i'm basically done with that. I still owe two unfinished full-shaded commission for alcapwny and yellow07, and also a line art commission for vixyyfox. That's my last commission status.
Now literary wise, i'm currently halfway through Len Deighton's Bomber - which i took great pleasure in reading and have been my best friend throughout this boring-class-filled semester, and Rufus Quentin's Addiction - around Ch.13. i also able to lay my hand on Aerofax publication MiG-15: The Soviet Union's Long-Lived Korean War Fighter, might be useful for my future projects
From G.Wolfe Paper Shipyard and Arm manufacturing, my 1/33 Hurricane IIc still needs a set of wings, which i still working out the assembly steps and Keel - or rather, formers - for 1/200 Whiskey V SSK are already laid down, enough to keep my busy for the rest of summer
For now, i'll try to catch up with my pending commission first, i will announce slots for further commissions this weekend, along with new, standarized, price sheet. If you have something to ask, or just wanna say hi, feel free to comment/shout

First Sign of Rain
Posted 8 years agoIt has been one very tough drought this year, it's november already and we just started to get some slight shower - at night. Sky is a bit dark this morning, but i'm not sure whether it's overcast or some smog blown from forest fires in Sumatra. sure thing is missed how it's like to be raining
What i really mean to convey is, some people have commented / noted me whether or not i'm open for commission. Well, i never did any commission before, so i'd like to know how its work
I'm mostly a traditional artist working on the good 'ol paper, do i expected to send the original to the commissioner? or send to them at additional price? because sending file overseas tend to be quite pricey here.
I suppose paypal would be a decent method of payment, what would you say?
And finally and most importantly, how much does my arts sell, i'd like to know how much do you expect for my a) Pen line art? and b) shaded pencil?
I guess i could use some extra cash to cover my maintenance-intensive car, fortunately falling oil price and new engine oil had cut down driveaway cost by at least 50 bucks this month, but the cost is still to high for a student like me
