Quick and simple update
Posted a year agoJust a quick and to-the-point update on things. I know I've been mostly quiet and not appearing to do much on here lately. I am still around; just been doing more just browsing lately. A mix of being too busy with writing a novel that I've been trying to finish for a long time and too broke to do much commissioning artists (at least not like I had been) have led to me appearing to have fallen silent apart from a post or two here and there. I actually have a backlog of art you guys probably haven't seen yet and I don't really have a reason for not posting it. I just haven't felt like it.
But I'm almost done with that novel I just mentioned and hopefully, once that's out of the way, this dragon can come out of the dungeon a bit more. Fingers crossed. Maybe, it might do something about my money problems too. Right now, my only source of income is a part-time job that doesn't pay much, so I need to do something. Again, fingers crossed.

Feedback and (Potentially) Writing Commissions
Posted 4 years agoTo those of you who've read my stories, how do they look do they seem well-written? Interesting? Hopefully, not too many problems?
For a while, I’d been thinking about opening up for limited writing commissions (and maybe some gift/request stories for a few select individuals). As I mentioned in a previous journal, a combination of different things has been pushing me to consider offering writing commissions, but I wanted to make sure my writing was actually good enough to do so. You can call it paranoid, I call it cautious.
So, regarding what I write, what do you think about it? Or do you think I should put a few more examples up before thinking about something like that?
P.S.: I won't talk about the current pandemic because everyone's talking about it and you're probably sick of hearing about it at this point.

New Year, New Decade, New Plans
Posted 4 years agoIt’s 2020, the start of a new year and a new decade. I’ve erased all my current notifications since they’ve been getting into the tens of thousands (and let’s face it, no one’s looking back that far through their stuff), and I’m ready to see what the new year offers in terms of cool art and stories.
Things I want to accomplish this year:
-More art of Wire in his current form. Most of the art I have of Wire is of the old version (who I’m now calling Nate as he is a separate character now). So, I want to get some stuff of the new version of him/me.
-Commissioning art of more new characters and art of my current characters. You already know it's gonna happen.
-Writing and posting more stories. Since my ultimate goal is to make a career out of writing stories, the best thing to do is focus on writing a bit more. I may even start a writing schedule to
-Developing my story worlds. There’s so much to the worlds of Hopada and Maleo that I want to explore and flesh out and I want to develop more of that this year. Maybe even making them into official comics. Speaking of which…
-Making comics out of my story worlds. Along with making a career out of writing stories, part of that is creating comics out of my story worlds. I’d love to team up with a good comic artist to make that happen. Though I know it’s going to take a lot of time, effort, and money, so it’s going to be something I really need to plan out.
Questions I’ve been pondering:
-Should I open for limited story requests/trades/commissions? Through a combination of having lots of ideas for scenarios I want to see, very few writers that cater to my interests, most of the ones that do being unavailable whenever I look, and a general lack of funds to do much with whenever I’m interested, things have been pushing me more and more to start writing stuff myself instead of just commissioning. Plus, writing for someone else might be a good way to put some extra money in my pocket and motivate me to finish stories more regularly than I do now
-Should I start posting commissioned works from my secret gallery? By “secret gallery”, I mean things that I haven’t posted to my gallery here for being too mature or out-there. A bunch of NSFW and fetish stuff (and probably not the kind of NSFW stuff most of you are thinking of). Most of it won’t go on my main gallery. I’ll be posting it to another page for exclusively NSFW/fetish stuff. I’m also thinking about posting some stories related to those things as I keep writing them (and may even include them in my requests/commissions from the question above).
What do you think about all of this? What do you think of the two questions I’ve asked above? If you see this, I’d love to get some feedback and if you’re an artist interested in helping me with any of the things I’ve mentioned above, I’d be happy to hear from you and look in your gallery.
Oh, and Happy New Year everyone!

My (somewhat) secret DA account
Posted 5 years agoI've been thinking about this for a while, but soon, I'll be re-posting some of the art I've commissioned to my DeviantArt account (with the artists' permission of course). Yes, I have a DA account. I don't really mention it much on here and I have a completely different set of characters there than I do here, but I'll be bringing the two together a bit more through bringing some of the characters here over there (though probably not all.)
https://www.deviantart.com/thedch <= LINK HERE
So, if you see art from this FA account on that DA account, it's still me.

(Question) In the market for some comics and a tail
Posted 5 years agoThere have been a couple of things I've been thinking about getting recently. One was some commissions to make some of my short stories (including some I haven't finished/posted yet) into comics, the other is a costume tail of my 'sona Wire. I've tried looking for costume or suit makers that could make a good custom lizard tail for me, but so far, everyone I've come across is closed. Same for comic makers. I think I just have some really bad luck with these. Does anyone know where I can find someone still taking orders?
Reorganizing Folders
Posted 5 years agoIt goes without saying that I have a lot of characters. So many that it's getting to the point that I'm running out of space for folders. So, I'm going to reorganize my folders to include several characters in a bunch of folders.
They're going to be grouped by series. This includes both fandom characters (Pokemon, Digimon, etc.) and my original characters, who will be grouped by the original story worlds that I'm including them in. So, you get to see these what kinds of worlds these characters are involved in.
Here we go.

Stories and World Building + Comics?
Posted 6 years agoFirst of all, I know I'm incredibly slow coming up with actual stories to post here, but I am trying to come up with stuff to write about these guys.
In fact, that's kind of what this journal is about.
With all the characters I've acquired here, I've been coming up with different stories and worlds built around them, especially a lot of my original characters. A lot of them would probably fit within the same world, which is an alternate dark dimension inhabited by various demons and monsters. Think Pokemon and Digimon crossed with Darkstalkers and Inuyasha and you might have an idea. I'm also coming up with a different world for my more sci-fi characters, and stuff for my fan characters, (possibly even original species versions of them. I'll still use the fan versions if I do, but it's nice to have options).
Also, with these stories I'm working on, I've been thinking of getting comics based around them too. So, if anyone knows about an artist that can do comic pages and is taking commissions, I'm looking, so don't be afraid to let me know.

Update – Coming Soon: Original Content
Posted 6 years agoBefore you say anything, no, I’m not drawing my own stuff. (Trust me. You do not want to see me draw.) But what I am working on is writing some original stories with some of my characters. I’ve already got some ideas in the works with Rocky, Sadrin, and Gontigo. If you want to see some of my other characters in action, feel free to throw some ideas at me. Not guaranteeing I’ll follow them, but they might spark some inspiration.
So, yeah. I'll be submitting original content soon. That's about the only thing left that I haven't done here. I'll still be posting the amazing commissioned pieces I've been getting (in fact, they're starting to stack up right now), but now, you might also see an original story here and there. Wish me luck.

Artist Bump: eKarasz & UMSAuthorLava
Posted 7 years agoThis is the first time I've done something like this, but I want to try to do something to help these guys. These are two artists on DA that I've been watching for a long while. I've even been commissioning some of their stuff (though through a secret DA account with none of the characters I have here). Lately, they've been having trouble attracting attention and pulling in commissions. Hopefully, at least some people see this and decide to give their pages a visit.
http://ekarasz.deviantart.com/ - This guy is great with character designs and creating scenes with different characters. He mostly does human characters and OC designs, but he is also great with fanart and anthro/non-human characters. A normal commission from him (1 character, full body, colored & shaded, no background) costs about $26.
http://umsauthorlava.deviantart.com/ - This guy has a lot of great anime-inspired art and character designs. If you have more out there ideas, this guy can bring them to life. A normal commission from him (again, 1 character, full body, colored & shaded, no background) costs about $20.
Apart from their commissions, both of these guys also have a bunch of cool characters with big stories surrounding them. Special note though: both of them only do clean artwork. I've never seen them do any adult pictures. You can ask them if you want, but I don't know how they handle it. If you gave them a visit on DA, I'm sure they'd both appreciate it.
Good luck, guys!

Motor City Furry Con + Night of the Mad Kobold
Posted 7 years agoI don't normally write just these kinds of journals, but I just felt like I had to say this.
This was a sort of unexpected thing, but I decided to go to Motor City Fur Con, making this my first furry convention. I live in Southeast Michigan close to where the con is held and I heard about it about a week ago, so I thought I’d check it out. I’ve been to anime conventions and there were a few fursuiters here and there, but this was completely different. I only went Saturday because I had stuff to do Friday and Sunday, but just that day was packed. There were so many fursuiters walking around and so many vibrant and colorful characters. You don't really get a sense of how many there are until you've actually been to one of these things. Holy crap, there were a lot!
If I decide to go to another one of these events, I'm not saying I would do a full fursuit, but I might want to have something at least. Even if it's a tail and some paw feet or gloves, something.
Aside from that, I saw a couple of familiar artists in the Artist Alley and the Dealer’s Den and some new ones (who I’ll probably be commissioning at some point), went to a few panels that were cool or funny to watch (Whose Lion was hilarious), and got a lot of pictures of some cool characters (though some of my first ones were complete crap).
I even got a new commission for a new character, so #11 will be on my roster really soon.
My highlight of the day though was the tabletop gaming event Night of the Mad Kobold. It was a one-shot D&D campaign where we all played kobolds trying to blow up a gnome and human town. We had to set off bombs in certain parts of the town and try to make it out alive. There were five players there including me, and not only did we do that, we completely wrecked everyone that tried to fight us!
It was insane! We had a barbarian that was chopping guards apart left and right, a thief that just snuck around taking folks’ stuff (and occasionally setting people on fire), a sorcerer that drank a potion that made them buff enough to fight without magic, and a bard that switched between shooting flaming crossbow bolts, playing epic heavy metal music (or what counts for it in a medieval setting), and powering up our butcher barbarian.
Then, there I was, a monk who was sneaking around accomplishing our objective with hardly anyone seeing me. I barely had to fight, but when I did, I wound up killing or incapacitating the enemies in one turn. At one time, I snuck up on a guard that was standing at a place I had to get into and sneaking around him wouldn’t help, so I had to fight. I went at him unarmed, then used a ki point to throw two extra attacks. The result: basically imagine one of the x-ray moves from Mortal Kombat X, only this time, the guy doesn’t get up afterwards. I was like Genji from Overwatch, if he were a lizard instead of a cyborg.
“I don’t need healing.”
There even turned out to be a group of adventurers (normally, they’d be the PCs here) that happened to be in town that tried to go after us as we tried to escape, but the same thing happened as what happened to the guards. Through a mix of skills and quick thinking on our part and sheer bad luck on their part, we wound up killing them all. Seriously, everyone who tried to stop us got clobbered! A guy got stabbed through the eye, a guy burst into flames, a guy got a beehive thrown at him and was swarmed by bees (and he was highly allergic, too), several guys got cut in half or got their heads chopped off, one guy got a Johnny Cage-style punch to the nuts, then got his head chopped off.
It got to the point where the guards became too afraid to come after us.
“W-We need to go after those kobolds!”
“Did you see them? They killed the captain of the guard, his second-in-command, and a group of adventurers! You wanna go after them? Go ahead!”
We were like the Suicide Squad of kobolds! We were going through this so smoothly! It was going so well that one human kid from a nearby orphanage decided to run away and join us, and we just let him in! This was just so crazy and I loved every second of it! This needs to be a thing in an actual D&D game or another roleplay. Alongside the main heroes, there should be some players separate from them playing a villainous group that basically becomes the antithesis to the main group. They could be like recurring bosses that the heroes fight when their stories intersect, but mostly it’s like they have their own goals their trying to accomplish.
“We have to go after those kobolds!” “Not now! We have to get this cargo back to the people in town!”
“Why are we running from those humans?!” “Because we have more important things to do.”
I’d love to be part of a campaign where we could do that.
TL,DR: Went to MCFC, it was awesome. My 11th character is on the way. Played a kobold in a D&D campaign, became a ninja lizard and destroyed a town with my team.

My FA Commission Wish List/Idea Bucket
Posted 7 years agoThis is less of a wish list and more of a brainstorm. This is a list of different ideas for future commissions I might get of my characters (I may or may not get some of these). I’m always coming up with different ideas and the characters I have so far (and in the works) have so many different things that can be done with them, even if some of them may not show it right now. If there’s any artists that could fit any of this, let me know.

-Wire/Nate: Nate TFing into Wire, skateboarding, powering something with his electricity, shooting lightning, cute couple’s art of Wire and Nieva
-Nieva: Singing on stage, flying, using ice magic
-Flip: In a dance-off, in a contest battle, Dire Mightyena form
-Rocky: On an adventure, fighting another Digimon, Viral Rocky TFing someone into a corrupted Digimon
-Puzzle/Voaafk: Mystery solving, in a haunted house, scared by a ghost, Puzzle waking up in a bloody room after Voaafk took control the night before, Voaafk hunting
-Gontigo: Exploring a dungeon, in combat, grossing folks out with his stench (and him loving every second of it), stink torturing a captive enemy, stinking up a captive’s stuff
-Teneric: Researching spells, TFing someone into a poisonous/venomous version of themselves, using his acid breath, Teneric’s treasure hoard
-Burai: Hunting, feral form, controlling fire, raising spirits of the dead
-Sadrin: Fighting monsters in the jungle, Sadrin as an ogre (he kind of already looks like one, doesn’t he?)
-Mossberg: Swimming, Mossberg as a slime character, Slime Mossberg eating a piece of cake (and unknowingly sliming the rest of it)
-Possible new characters: Male werewolf character, male hyena or wolverine character, female kitsune character, female thunderbird character
=
Regarding possible mature or adult art I might commission, I've tended to stick with non-specific characters for that, but I may put some of my actual characters in some of these. For more of an idea of what that might entail, my favorites may show a few trends. (Warning: Freaky stuff scattered inside.) Again, nothing concrete yet and I won't stop putting up clean commissions of these characters. Just some thoughts about who might show up in what later on.
-May be used in adult art: Gontigo, Teneric, Burai, Sadrin
-May be used in mature art: Wire, Nieva, Voaafk, Mossberg
-General art only: Flip, Rocky, Puzzle
Also, if anyone reading this wants to go in together with a commission with one of these guys, let me know. I know I can think of some characters I'd like to be featured in a pic with.

In case anyone sees this, I have a question.
Posted 7 years agoI doubt anyone's going to read this, but on the off chance that someone does, I wanted to ask something? Because I noticed that I've been collecting a good bit of stuff on FA and commissioning a lot of artists. Some of them haven't even posted their copy of the work. And since I started saving my copies of the commissions, I've got a good pile of them stacking up.
So, should I start re-posting some of the stuff I've commissioned on my page?
I know some people already do that and a lot of artists don't seem to have a problem with that (as long as you ask first/link them/credit them of course), but I'm unsure about how to go about this. I'm basically going door-to-door asking every artist I commissioned here if I can post their stuff on my page. What reason would they have to not just slam the door in my face?
-=-
*knock knock knock*
*door opens*
"Hey, how are you today? Remember that commission I got from you a while back? I was wondering if it was okay if I could post it on my profile. I'll credit you of course and...
*door slams shut and locks*
"Umm... I'm guessing that's a no?"
-=-
Besides, what if there's more to it than just asking if you can do it? Is there something special you have to do or do you have to pay an extra fee? If you miss a step, you'll probably get blacklisted from their page and I like the artists I watch too much to try to get blacklisted from them.
It may be that I'm worrying too much. From what I've seen, if you just ask them and they say it's okay, then it's okay. But this is uncharted territory for me. I'm surprised I'm even thinking about doing this.
Summary: Should I start re-posting the art I've collected from commissions on my page?
[UPDATE - 12/30/2016] I've decided to go through with it. I'll start posting some pictures soon. Let's see how this goes.

Fave Marathon is GO!
Posted 8 years agoSo turns out my original strategy of watching all the artists I like has brought up a new issue. I now have hundreds of watch notifications and journal notifications and just cherry picking the ones I like still leaves me with hundreds. Looks like I'll have to do something I thought I wouldn't have to do, if I want to keep better track of the stuff I like.
I'll have to start adding pieces to... my favorites list.
*crowd gasp sound effect*
So now, I'll be going around on a fave spree, adding the things I really like to my favorites gallery, starting with my watch notifications.

Watch Marathon
Posted 8 years agoFor some reason, I've never tried watching any of my favorite artists, meaning pressing the watch button for them. I've always tried to find their pages the hard way, browsing through the site.
So, I'm going to just go on a watch marathon ,searching the site for some of my favorite artists and hitting the watch button for their pages, maybe even faving some pieces I really like. I suppose sooner or later, I was going to try this, so today's the day.
I made this journal before I started, so let the marathon-watching commence!
Ready... GO!

Getting more active
Posted 12 years agoI was kind of the invisible man when I first came here, but recently, I've been getting more active on this site (but more so on F-List, where I have a couple of characters in use).
I'm not yet at the point of posting something here myself, but I may be responding to more things here.

If you are reading this, chances are I saw something of yours that I felt I had to comment on. The thing is I usually don't comment on something unless I really feel like I have something to say. Chances are I won't favorite a submission or put anyone on my watch list because, frankly, I like being invisible. Nothing personal. Chances are I won't submit anything myself either, though that's for a different reason altogether (lack of motivation).
Also, buying comissions or asking for art in general. I can't ask anyone to do art for me for a few reasons. (1) I'd be giving up my invisible status. (2) Talking to people is hard. (3) The people I'm living with won't allow me to set up a Paypal account. (4) I tend to spend my money on very few things besides video games, manga, music CDs, and Subway sandwiches. (Chicken teriyaki + italian dressing = WIN)
So anyway, now you know where a few of your extra views are coming from. Keep up the good work.
