Worldbuilding!
Posted 2 years agoI have no idea how to start these because I am not quite sure who my audience is at this point...but HI! I've had a few people contact me wanting to talk about my characters, and I love it! It's great, and thank you. But I've noticed a few assumptions being made about the relationship I have with my characters and I'd like to make that clearer.
First of all, I think I should sort of clear up some misconceptions or curiosities around the characters in my gallery. I know my username is Takaani, the profile picture is of a green dragon...but she is not my fursona. I don't have a fursona. I use her name and face as my online representation, but I don't think she is me or her personality represents me in any way. Every single one of my characters, from Takaani to Venom, are characters part of a long-standing role play with friends that has been going on for over a decade(Takaani/Venom), have created myself as part of an attempt at personal storytelling (Musaamik), or have been gifted to me by others and incorporated into current ongoing stories (Baba/Ka'ahkai).
Also, it's a small thing I'm not sure anyone has noticed, but I re-organized my gallery. Added folders, subfolders, that sort of thing. What might have caught your eye though, is how I've structured these folders, with weird names and titles that may be unfamiliar. Like "Eialm", "All-Hollow", and "The Forgotten Lands". Along with the story blurbs I tend to write as part of my post descriptions, I wondered if it would be prudent to create an introductory journal to some of these names and how they relate to my characters.
So, what do my readers and watchers think? Should I make a featured journal with character backstories and world summaries?

PSA about Comments/Notes
Posted 2 years agoYes, this is going to be my first journal! I'm sure this further gives off a very prickly first impression but I really feel like it needs to be said and I honestly should have said it before I started filling up my gallery with commissions.
This isn't directed at any person in particular, but consider it a general statement of preference of how I'd like to be treated. I'm fairly new to this fandom and I may or may not be overreacting, but this is my little corner of the internet and I would like to rule it with an iron fist. Sometimes on my submissions I get weird comments. I'm not very comfortable with this. I understand it comes from a place of enjoyment and excitement for many, and I'm so glad you like the art I've commissioned. I love it too, and I really appreciate how hard the artists have worked on these pieces. But please. If you have a comment in your heart and soul that is a little bit thirsty, a little bit...questionable? If you wouldn't say it to a stranger IRL, please don't comment it. You can like it and fave it, and leave a comment of what you like about it and all that stuff. I'm sure the artists would love to hear those comments; I link the artist's upload to nearly all of my commissioned works exactly so that can happen and I heavily encourage it.
If you make too many weird comments, or a particularly egregious comment...I'm going to block you. It's not personal, but I just don't have the patience or the thick enough skin to not be bothered. I've already blocked someone before for this kind of behavior and will do so again without hesitation. I know I can't control what people say or feel about my characters or the art depicting them, and I'm sure there will be annoyed reactions from this. Just have those conversations where I can't see them. If you notice some questionable comments that I let slide from one person but not you, please don't point it out. Chances are I like the person, we're friends, and it's an inside joke. Don't ask for an explanation because I won't justify it.
Happy Art Viewing!
