FWA Meme 016
Posted 8 years agoIt's been a whole year since I've made a journal, but hey, isn't it about time for another one? I mean...this year's FWA? Of course it is! Let's get this show on the road! I can't wait to wiggle around as a fox again. It's felt like a small eternity since Fangcon!
Where are you staying?
Atlanta Marriott Marquis, the main hotel~
What day are you getting there?
I'll be showing up on Thursday evening. I took a vacation day on Friday, so expect to see a big-eared fox hopping around lots! X3
Who will you be rooming with?
twilightbarker , Clue Kitty, and one of Clue's friends? I forget everyone's FAs these days...
Who will you hang out with during the convention?
My roomies, of course! I also have a friend who'll be tagging along with me later on who will be having their very first furry con. This should be a little bit of an adventure X3
Will you be suiting?
Of course! Let's shoot for 8ish hours each day! YAY! X3
Do you do free art?
Art? What's that? =3c
What is your gender?
BOY!!! =3
How tall are you?
A very, very tall 5'8"
Are you taken? Are you looking for a 'mate'?
Duh! You all know I'm engaged to Leo~ <3
Can I talk to you?
Definitely! I love meeting new folks and talking to old ones. Don't be shy <3
Can I touch you?
Hugs? Sure =3
How can I find you?
If I'm in suit, look for the bright-orange, big-eared fox! If I'm out of suit...then look for the same fox, but on a badge!
Can I visit your room?
Maaaaaaybe? XD
Can I buy you drinks?
BEER! =3
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Hugs? Probably. Snuggles? Nah~
Are you nice?
I like to think I am. Always smiling n' giggling and all... X3
Do you have an artist table?
Never have, never will!
Will you be going to parties?
Probably not. Parties aren't really my thing... ^^;
Will you be performing?
I guess fursuiting can be considered "performing" ...XD
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Say, "HEY! ZIPPY!!!!" And maybe I'll notice! X3
What/where will you be eating?
Welp, I brought some stuff to snack on as always. But that mall food court seems to be where we all end up, yeah? X3
Can I draw in your sketchbook?
I don't even have one! =3
Can I take your picture?
ESPECIALLY if I'm in suit! And put that on twitter or something! I wanna see! X3
What's your goal(s) for the con this year?
Hang out, get a good wiggle or two or three in suit, and make wonderful memories and times with friends, old and new! =3
Hope to see you guys around! Have a great weekend! <3

FWA Meme 2015!!!
Posted 9 years agoWell, I gotta admit. Without Leo coming this year, it's going to be a lot less special than in years prior. I honestly kinda had to motivate myself to go this year. Sorry guys! But alas, I'm coming for the weekend, so I hope to see some of you out there! X3
Where are you staying?
Atlanta Marriott Marquis~
What day are you getting there?
Friday! Gonna come after work that day, so I'd imagine I'd be getting there in the early evening
Who will you be rooming with?
The lucky three who convinced me to come this year damianshadowpaw, Dasos, and Cantos. Dunno their FAs... XD
Who will you hang out with during the convention?
Welp, I got my usual crew, so I expect to see some of them. You know who you dumb peeps are! And I gotta suit with them this year too!!! <333
Will you be suiting?
YUP! Zippy's debut convention! <3333333
Do you do free art?
Nope! >=3
What is your gender?
I'm a boy! =3
How tall are you?
Uh, 5'8. So you might be looking down for me.

Taken and engaged. Gettin' nothing from me, folks! =3
Can I talk to you?
Of course you can! Just some up and say, "Hey, Zip!" I love peeps!

I doubt I'll be bringing really much of anyone to the room... XD
Can I buy you drinks?
I do enjoy my dark beers~ =9

Do I ever carry one around with me? XD
Can I take your picture?
If you tell me, so I have proper time to pretty myself up and smile for the camera~ |3

GE Vortalex Fan Lamp
Posted 9 years agoSo here we are once again with another exciting restoration project!
Now, me and my friend Casey have had this long-running joke that whenever an antique is broken, we should just turn it into a lamp. It may have been a joke, but the idea really appealed to me when it came to vintage electric fans. I've seen a couple of people repurpose them, putting sockets on a center hub with lights spreading out as if they were blades. That idea kinda sat on the back burner while I was working on other fans.
Then a couple weeks ago, Casey called me when a 16" GE Vortalex came into the shop with a rather affordable offer. Now if you know me and if you've seen some of my other restorations, you know I have a big affinity for the Vortalex fans. So when that came in, we decided that was the one...the one that would become a lamp! And I bought it!
Here's what it looked like when I bought it~

Prior to this project, I'd actually done a fair amount of research into lamps. I learned about lamp wiring, their anatomy, what their parts are called, and what parts I needed to make this happen. I'd also done plenty of fan restorations up until this point. That all being said, I was pretty much on full autopilot through most of the beginning stages of this project. Wiring all the sockets to the center cluster body was a little challenging with the cramped space, but...me and Casey got it all taken care of with a fair amount of trading off. It was like tag-team wiring! Work till you got a headache, then tag the other guy in.
And when it all came down to putting the lights into their sockets for the first time...when it came down to flicking the switch on... I was in a state of bliss! I can say with complete confidence that nothing I have ever created has made me more proud than the outcome of this lamp project. I mean, fans are cool, but I just brought myself to a whole new level!
Ladies and gentlemen, my GE Vorty Lamp!~

Casey and I are looking into possible starting to create these for sale at his shop. I'm very excited to see how this may play out. In the meantime, I think I'm going to keep this one for now. I think it's too pretty. My heart flutters every time I look at it~ <3
Enjoy everyone!

Leo Visiting and Updates!
Posted 9 years agoI didn't mention that this coming weekend, my dummy LeoRenard is coming to visit me!!!
I can't believe it's been since March since we last were with each other. Time's flown by since FWA...what, with work and all. And of course, all the projects I've been working on. Y'know...when he was last here, I only had two fans. That number has changed significantly since then, so we'll see how he likes my new breezers. Pssst...one of the fans is actually for him! X3
But yeah. He'll be here for two weeks, keeping me company as I go throughout my routine. He didn't want me to take many days off, so he's gonna be spending a lot of time with my parents! WHICH IS VERY MUCH A GOOD THING! <3
In the meantime, since I last spoke to you all, me and my family...we're all doing pretty good right now. It's been a tough transitioning period to our new situation, but things are looking up.
Always thankful of your thoughts and concerns for us. <3

I Will Always Love You
Posted 9 years agoToday, my partner for 16 years, my little orange tabby cat named Tiger, he passed away.
We'd taken him to the vet a number of times over the past few weeks. We knew something was happening. We gave it our all, and Tiger fought hard to hang on, but in the end, we couldn't help him. At the vet this morning, we all said our goodbyes.
16 years ago, I saw a bouncy, fun little orange tabby, picked him out of a litter, and named him Tiger. He was there for me always: following me around, playing with me, sleeping with me, always cuddling and purring all the while. He had such a thing for toy mice too. He'd carry them around in his mouth, have little gathering areas for them at the top and bottom of the stairs. He loved nothing more than toy mice for Christmas. He was just so cute.
He passed with his paw wrapped around my finger, holding me as he drew his last breath. He was surrounded by his family, who've all loved and taken care of him throughout his life. He passed under his own terms. We brought his favorite blanket and toy mouse to be cremated with him.
Thank you, Tiger, for all the joy and happiness you brought to my life.
I miss you, and I will always love you.

Zippy's Fan Restoration~ =3
Posted 9 years ago***TL;DR: Wanna see all the fans I've restored? See link below!!!***
"So, whatcha been up to lately, Zippy?"
Well, I'm not spending too much time drawing or being on Skype lately, that's for sure... ^^;
Work's just been a little hectic with the clients I'm currently dealing with. As some of you know, I'm an eLearning developer. Basically, this client comes with such short notice, that we're developing their class for them only a week before it's available to students. That means working fast, fast, fast, and not having much time for QA and review before it goes live. *grumbles* Frustrating! But after I stress myself out at work, there's nothing I enjoy more than to come home, isolate myself in the garage, blast some crappy pop music, and get to working on restoring some old fans. I guess you could say it's kinda been replacing my drawn art lately. *shrugs* And if you ask yourself why I like doing this more these days, it's just simply because drawing has been boring me lately...a lot! I've lost my muse. I hit a block well over a year ago, and I've just not found my way back through it, I suppose. Every picture was a struggle between my frustration drawing it and willpower to complete it. So I turned to something else for another creative outlet...and it's fixing things.
I enjoy sticking my nose in old towns, browsing the antique stores. That's really one great thing about the area I live in. Lots of old railroad towns nearby that have seen better days. Ghost town store fronts that are crammed with nothing but antique stores to keep their economies alive. I love meeting the people there, and I'd be lying if I said my hobby hasn't earned me a lot of friends or placed my name as "fan repair" on a contact list in the store. So...I browse for old fans, ones cheap and deserving for a new lease on life: some oil, some paint, some love.
Some of you probably remember that GE Vortalex I restored and popped a journal up for the other month. That was actually fan number 3 in a line that's worked itself well above 10 now! And if you can imagine, in my bedroom currently, I have 5 vintage fans that I've restored/fixed...and that's not even excluding the rest of the house! In summers over 90F, I've definitely got a cool room, that's for sure! <333
If you're interested in seeing my projects, please click here! It's a folder containing all the fans I've restored and fixed, mostly in Before>After order:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/izuquz6m.....lsa37URsa?dl=0
And actually, it's spreading beyond fans now and into bicycles! My current project is a restoration of a late 40s Schwinn cruiser. I've had it for a couple weeks now, priming, sanding, and smoothing. It's just about ready for paint, actually. But that's a talk for another time.
I just wanted to keep you all updated and such. I hope you're all doing well and aren't too disappointed with my drop in art lately.
Take care everyone,
-Zippy <3

GE Vortalex Fan Restoration
Posted 10 years agoWelp, I did it again guys!
I restored another old fan! ...and to those following me on twitter, this is old news (but I took new and better pictures, so look below!)... But for those who don't follow me, all you watchers out there, I wanna show you a little project I took on for myself a few weeks ago~ <3
~~The Story~~
So, I went to an antique store a few months back and noticed a little GE Vortalex fan form the 40s. Here's the thing, I've always thought the Vortalex fans were neat. The blades, the body design, all of it. But this fan was in pretty rough shape. The cage was completely rusted, the blades would hardly budge, it was missing the nut on the oscillation arm. On top of that, when I plugged it in, it only worked on one speed. I decided not to get it...but...it was on my mind for weeks after...still. A few weeks later, the week before FWA, I was out in that area again. I decided I wanted to see the fan again and have another look. It was still there. I expressed my concerns to the kind, old ladies who owned the store. I told them I restored them, which really excited them. I showed them my past work, and they gave me an offer I couldn't refuse on the Vortalex. And I took it home!
This is what it looked like when I got it~
http://i.imgur.com/k3nOi6r.jpg
Suspecting the speed issues might have come from debris and horrible lubrication for decades, I dropped a little bit of oil in. Turns out, I was correct. It was barely moving on Low speed, but it worked! However, the oscillating was another story entirely. When I took the fan apart and got the grease out of the gearbox, I found the oscillating gear's teeth were completely destroyed. That meant it needed a new part...which, on a 70 year old fan, would be a little tough to obtain.
Regardless, I went ahead. At least everything else worked, right? I sanded and stripped the paint off, got all the rust off all the way to a silky-smooth, metal surface. I busted out the black and brown tones for this one...since that's the color scheme of my bedroom. I chose a nice brown for the base and motor casing, a satin black for the cage, and a champagne color for the blades, finishing it all up with a black, braided cloth wire for a vintage feel. And lucky for me, I was able to locate an identical fan in an antique store last Monday, which I promptly bought and took the oscillating gear and arm nut from. The gear from that fan was in perfect condition, so I swapped them out.
After putting it all back together, it runs as smooth and as quiet as it was new...oscillating and everything. AND IT LOOKS SUPER AMAZING!!! I have to say, I'm so very proud of this fan...and I love it and cherish it for forever. Here's to another 70 years of service and beyond, GE Vortalex! <333
Here's some pictures for you all. Have a look! ^^

Back Home! Feeling Bubbly~
Posted 10 years agoHello again, guys!
Well, after an entire month loving on my dummy in Canada, I'm finally back home! And with snow/ice?! What? I think I brought the weather with me or something. I've been at home the past two days... X3
But on a more annoyed note:
And if you were all over twitter, you know just how much of a wreck coming home was for me on Monday. A quick summary... My original flight out of Calgary was delayed two hours, because the flight didn't have a crew. This was going to make me miss my connecting flight in Chicago, so they rebooked me on a flight into Denver that would bump my return time to Atlanta from 9:40pm to 11:20pm. So when I landed in Denver, I see there's a two hour delay on the flight home to Atlanta. I was getting really annoyed at this point. And when the plane finally got there...MAINTENANCE! Boom...another hour delay on top of the original two! I didn't land in Atlanta until roughly 1:30am, almost four hours after when I was originally supposed to land...
So, allow me to give a big shoutout to United Airlines here for royally screwing everything up! Take a bow, guys! *applauds*
Never again...
Anyways, on a more positive note:
I told my mom and dad about my engagement to Leo, and they're so very supportive of it. I absolutely loved how my mom was sending him text messages welcoming him to our family. It makes me so happy, so proud. I've been living on this emotional high since coming back, and I think it's why I haven't been able to cry over leaving. It's a new chapter of my life that I'm so excited for. How could I cry?
And soon enough, he'll be back in my arms again...for much, much longer than a month too~ <3
I'm glad to be back, guys!

Engaged to Dummies~ <3
Posted 10 years agoWell, for those of you who don't follow my twitter, I have a very special announcement~
It all started on January 8th with a flight out of Atlanta to Denver, and Denver to Calgary, eight hours of flight time till I reached the arms of my dummy. Nearly a month later, after all the random adventures, all the silliness, and all the love...this visit has been oh so very perfect in every way. Now, with my trip to Canada rapidly coming to a close, I can say it's been the most wonderful time I've ever spent with anyone.
But nothing was more wonderful than last week's trip to the wonderful mountains in Banff. Perusing the town in a shivering cold, taking a stroll along the mountaintops, soaking in the waters of a hot spring, peering off into the vast ocean of stars in night sky, to basking in the warmth of the fireplace of our cabin: all made for an unforgettable weekend of absolute amazingness. And on January 25th, Leo proposed to me, and the ring slipped on my finger.
Here's a picture of the rings~ <3
http://i.imgur.com/zkyMMqx.jpg
Well, I could sit here and take off in a fit of mushiness, telling you all just everything he means to me, but...between all the pictures I draw of us and all the journals I make of him, I'm sure you guys don't need to hear it all again another time. I do that far too often as it is. But guys! Guess what?! IT'S OFFICIAL! Me and Leo are engaged~ <3
Look at this cute picture Leo got of our trip in Banff~ <3

Life~ <3
Posted 10 years agoHey, everyone!~ =3
Some of you have been pestering me and already know, but for those who don't...
Despite many sleepless nights and a crapton of work, my exit show was a BIG SUCCESS! Seriously! Thirteen of us graduating from UGA's graphic design program this semester...with a turnout of some 300+ people to see our show. Lovely~ I basically got to spend my night sipping wine, talking to a bunch of people about my artwork..CARS!!!! Not a bad way to spend the night, huh? I'll include some links down below where you guys can take a look at my display. WHICH TOOK AN ETERNITY TO PIN UP!!! *thumbs still hurt* Unfortunately, I can't quite show what the insides of the book look like just yet...so...you can't read them right now...but I wanna make a digital version of it for everyone to see later~ ^^
My Display

To explain in a nutshell...
You all know how much I love cars, how strong my passion is. The first book (the black and white one) is called "I Am the Automobile" and is about the life of the car and how it has changed the way we live today. The other, called "The Fate of the Automobile" documents the decay of a particular group of cars I've known about for the past five years, rusting away in a field. So, in short: the life of cars, the death of cars. My display behind them reflects this as well: B&W over the B&W book on the left, to color on the right; the life of cars on the left, to the death of cars on the right. Oooooh~ I also printed and bound the books myself! *crafty* =3
But WAIT!
I still had no time to sleep in this morning either. Why? Do you remember that interview I had over Thanksgiving break to be a graphic designer at that company? Well, today I went into the office to sign some paperwork. I got the job! I did a little bit of work for them this weekend, and I'll be dipping in much more after I graduate! Starting my career just out of college? I feel so lucky, it's unbelievable~ <333
And then...what I'm waiting so much for...
Just around the corner, in one month, I'll be boarding on the plane to visit my love. Blah blah blef! I can't wait! *bounces* Did I mention I'm on an extreme emotional high today? X3
I love you all~ *collapses and catches up on all his sleep* <3
Expect more cutesy art soon!

The Next Chapter
Posted 10 years agoI graduate from UGA in December...
Man, my four years here went by so fast, it's incredible. All the friends and people I've met, all the fun times I've spent, it's all been amazing. Especially for those who've been with me in my graphic design program. Thirteen of us, two years together. Definitely a second family to me, and I'll miss them like crazy when it's all said and done. And then it's off into the real world~ Crazy!
My exit show is on December 6th, where me and my classmates will be showing our big, semester-long projects. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous...or if I said I felt that I was completely ready for it. Lord knows I have a lot of work to get done in between now and then. So, if you've had trouble getting in touch with me, or if you're wondering why I'm not online much, that's definitely why. Weeks have been busy. ^^
But I left this here so you guys would know what I'm up to. Just work, work, work. Getting prepared for that exit show.
AND THEN!!!
It's off to Canada to spend a month with my wonderful dumbface, my love. I'm looking forward to it more than anything, to starting the next chapter of my life in the most special way...with the most special person.
As scary as life is right now, I can say it's never been better~ <3

I'm a Fan of Old Fans! =3
Posted 10 years agoStupid title...
But for those of you who don't follow me on twitter, and to the people who do, I wanna share a project I was working on this past week with my friend damianshadowpaw
Those of you who know me know I have a certain thing for vintage items. I've been a sucker for the past in every way whatsoever, but it's only recently I started a small collection of such items. After buying an old Travler radio from 1939, my interest switched over to vintage electric fans. All the ones I found at shops and online were rather expensive...and I spent many weeks searching for something that looked awesome AND still worked at a cheap price.
Then, two weeks ago, I stumbled on this little guy:
http://i.imgur.com/vJPvxtk.jpg
Found him in an antique store down the road for $30, and it worked flawlessly: completely smooth, completely silent. I scooped it up and took it to its loving new home. After doing some research on it, I stumbled across images of the same fan, ones that people restored to like-new condition. I decided then and there that I wanted to restore this fan. I had very little invested in it, so it wouldn't be a loss if I completely screwed it up, right? Perfect candidate. So I asked Damian for his help with electrical stuff and overalll know-how, and we took on the task of sprucing up this little Polar Cub fan.
http://i.imgur.com/8x9G8XM.jpg
Stripping paint on the left, de-rusting on the right~
http://i.imgur.com/gY2YirS.jpg
All the parts looking shiny and new~
We stripped the paint, splashed on a new coat of paint, cleaned out the motor, re-oiled the motor, and rewired everything. Overall, the process was a lot smoother than I thought it would be. Damian did a great job helping me with the wiring, painting, and making sure nothing got royally screwed up. The end result was a work of art. I swear, the most beautiful thing ever~ <3
http://i.imgur.com/SutGhBS.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/VoeiAE0.jpg
With everything all cleaned out, it runs so much smoother than it did when I first got it. And to think...just two weeks ago...it was a rusting little piece of sketchy wiring. I think this fan will run smoothly for another 80 years and beyond. Let's see how far this little thing can go, yeah? Thanks for all the help, Damian! <3
Oh! And one more thing!
http://i.imgur.com/DwJeuWh.jpg
Got this one yesterday. No plans to fix it up though, as it's beautiful and in wonderful working order as-is. Maybe rewiring, but nothing more. Love it~ <3
Talk to you all soon~ =3

After buying an old Travler radio from 1939, my interest switched over to vintage electric fans. All the ones I found at shops and online were rather expensive...and I spent many weeks searching for something that looked awesome AND still worked at a cheap price.
Then, two weeks ago, I stumbled on this little guy:

Found him in an antique store down the road for $30, and it worked flawlessly: completely smooth, completely silent. I scooped it up and took it to its loving new home. After doing some research on it, I stumbled across images of the same fan, ones that people restored to like-new condition. I decided then and there that I wanted to restore this fan. I had very little invested in it, so it wouldn't be a loss if I completely screwed it up, right? Perfect candidate. So I asked Damian for his help with electrical stuff and overalll know-how, and we took on the task of sprucing up this little Polar Cub fan.

Got this one yesterday. No plans to fix it up though, as it's beautiful and in wonderful working order as-is. Maybe rewiring, but nothing more. Love it~ <3
Talk to you all soon~ =3
Summer's Over~
Posted 10 years agoWelp, guys. I'm back at it one more time, back in classes and at school for my final semester.
Summer ended and classes started up again on Monday. I gotta say, though, this was probably the easiest transition into the school year ever! Like...I feel I just wanted school to come, and I missed my classmates/friends like crazy!!! With senior exit show and portfolio preparations coming up before graduation, the pressure is definitely on. I'll definitely be doing my best this semester, cross my fingers and hope I can make some awesome work one last time~
In other related news, one of my professors wanted us to show her five examples of our work. I showed her my design stuff yeah, and she liked a bit of it, but she TOTALLY flipped her shit over the fuzzy illustrations I showed her in passing! If I wanted a career as an illustrator, maybe I'd be proud...but I don't. XD
Anyways. That's all for now.
How're you all doing? ^^

Canada Visit! (Pictures Included at Bottom)
Posted 11 years ago♥ ♥
Here I am, sitting in my bed the day after without my fox beside me, an empty feeling. You guys know by now to expect journals like this: accounts of my amazing adventures with friends close and afar. Well, this one was certainly an adventure I’ll never forget.
A few months ago, after his visit to Atlanta, Leo and I decided that I should suck up my fear of flying and head up to Calgary to see him. It’s not that I was necessarily “scared,” but I’d not been on a plane in over 15 years! A lot has changed since the late 90s. And I tell you! When I was heading through security to catch my flight to Calgary…it was rather intimidating. Like, I was completely stressing out, haha! But alas, I made it onto my plane, fighting through the bad weather on takeoff and landing into Calgary (very bumpy). I was very thankful to have this wonderful girl sitting next to me. She was around my age, and we talked pretty much the whole flight through about things ranging from work to how much we loved Disney. Having her there on my flight was marvelous, and she did a great job telling me what was going on during the flight and what to expect.
Upon landing and getting my bags, Leo was there waiting to pick me up and take me home. A long journey of unknowns, landing in an area I’d never been before…but there he was, looking at me with the same, comforting, loving smile that told me I was safe. My Leo. After some dinner at Denny’s, he took me home and we snoozed and tossed around in bed like always, a couple of lazy dumbfaces~
The first few days of my visit, Leo was working. So his roommate, Jess kept me company during his work hours, and she pretty much served as my tour guide to Calgary. I felt quite welcome around here immediately: she’s energetic, spunky, bouncy, and crazy fun! Kinda like me…but even more crazy (hard to imagine, huh?)! But man! We walked miles and miles (kilometers and kilometers?) around the city, and she showed me so many things, so many places. Seriously, by the end of the night, I felt like I knew how to get around the city like a pro (and actually, later on, there were quite a few times I found my own way to certain places, yay). Jess and I ended the day incredibly worn out! But it didn’t end there. Another day Leo was at work, Jess and her love Tom took me out to Calgary’s Lilac Festival. They both dressed up in elaborate costume, almost cosplay like, and Jess had these incredible silver wings (Wings of Isis) that made her look like a tornado when she danced. It was really pretty. Once again, I had another great day exploring the city and its events with Jess and Tom. Hehe…I’m actually surprised at Leo. He doesn’t know anywhere near the amount of places she knows around town. Ask him where to go, he says, “Ask Jess!” X3
Come the 27th, when Leo was officially on vacation, all four of us took a trip to the mountains and hot springs in Banff. It’s only an hour out of Calgary? Dang! It was so beautiful out there with snowcapped mountains as far as the eye could see. Driving there was a breathtaking sight, indeed, and we found this quiet little restaurant along the way that served a totally awesome breakfast with a view of the mountains. Gotta go back there sometime, definitely! But we arrived at the Upper Banff Hot Springs for a day of relaxation, and what a day it was! Just slipping into the waters there melted away all your pains and stressed and literally just zapped the energy from you. We loafed there in the water for an hour or more, talking, laughing, and sharing content sighs all around. And after that, we swung (literally) a ride on a gondola to the top of the mountains. Apart from Leo and Tom threatening to rock the gondola from side to side (the idea scared me and Jess, those meanies), the trip to the top was amazing! And standing at the snowcapped top, wearing shorts and a t-shirt suddenly wasn’t enough. Total climate change, hah! But the views from up there were incredible, definitely much more spectacular than the mountains we have around my parts. We could see the storms rolling in over the landscape too, which was also the reason why we left.
Quite frankly, other than the Banff trip, the majority of the trip was taken day by day. We did whatever came up. Quite a few nights were spent playing Mario Party and hanging out and eating stuffs with our friends ocean and kallikai. Heck! We even spent a day looking at cars with Ocean. Not that I mind (*car nut* X3). There were two days that graedius and leokitsune came to visit us too, staying in the Marriott across the street from the Calgary Tower. We had a blast hanging with them, and at nights, swimming with them and acting like idiots in the hotel pool. Another day, we had lunch with silentravyn and morg at this really hip joint in town. That was really fun too!
Most importantly, though, I enjoyed spending time with Leo. I mean, he’s visited me four times. He’s seen my life, seen how I live, hung out with my friends, but I’d never seen his. Finally being able to experience it, to see the life he lives, to meet the friends he talks so much about was wonderful. Just being there with him was wonderful. I really, really want to thank him for that. For giving me the chance to come up there and be with him, for him supporting me while I was up there, for all the silly little moments we shared (like how many times he’d do a ninja ear-lick/nip to tickle and make me squirm), for giving me all the love in the world all those miles away from home. Never once did I feel homesick. But here I am now, back “home,” but I don’t feel like I am. I miss him, and I miss his city.
Now begins the road to recovery, getting things organized here where I am, trying to wrench my way out of the downer mood I’ve been in since returning. I hope we cross paths again really soon. Thanks to everyone who made this trip so awesome! You guys are wonderful!
And thank you, Leo, for an adventure I’ll never forget. I’ll be up there again real soon. I love you so very much.
