Akivia Wolf is that rarest of rock phenomena; a global superstar who managed to completely cross over from metal to the mainstream, becoming a music icon and conquering the world in the process. The transition came in ‘95 with the release of the monumental, highest selling and most critically acclaimed album of all time, “Cigarettes & Alcohol”, when Akivia Wolf found himself growing and maturing in such a way there was no more anger and just sadness;
“There is only so much you can convey with metal.” Akivia said to Rolling Stone in 2002.
“I wanted to sing, like really sing. I wasn’t angry anymore, I didn’t feel angry. I felt more sad than anything. And so I wrote, and conveyed everything into that album and it came out softer, more gentle and alternative than our previous works.” He continues.
“None of it was heavy or metal, it was more of a rock sound, a soft rock, sprinkled with a few little party-going songs to get the crowds moving and feeling the music. We [the band] all worked hard on digging deep into ourselves and bringing out feelings we needed to get out. All of us were in the same boat. The labels were terrified, I mean, we made a huge leap transitioning into that sound. And we were aware rock has been done a million times over, so we made it completely different. They [the labels] were afraid the world wouldn’t like our new sound, that’s because there wasn’t anything that sounded like that album. Then they heard three songs from that project and they were instantly hooked in and gave us the thumbs up to finish it.” Akivia said. Little did Akivia Wolf and the rest of the band know, they had wrote some of the greatest songs ever recorded.
From that point and on, Akivia [the band] became not only the biggest and most acclaimed musicians in history, they took over the entire planet. They became the highest paid musicians in the world and a string of number one albums, singles and songs year after year and even pulling in a staggering attendance of 8.9 million people in ‘98 in Huskala when they performed in The Great Plains. The versatility in the music, and not only the style and sound, ultimately created a band in which everyone, from all parts of the world, all ages, could enjoy and love. They were for everyone.
Although, Akivia Wolf has gained quite a lot of notoriety over the years and specifically in the late 90’s. He was one of, if not the most controversial figures in Hollywood.
“He’s the prime example on why you shouldn’t give a troubled teenager 200 million dollars.” Henry Gale says to Time Magazine, 1998.
He pushed through hardships, dealt with his trauma and got clean to ultimately live a better, more healthy and positive life and spread good throughout the world after his infamous suicide attempt in 2000.
In 2002, he enlisted into D.A.R.K., alongside band member and childhood best friend, Mark Cedric. The most prestigious and skilled defence force in the world, he proved that he wasn’t just some superstar looking for a thrill. He graduated and successfully passed as a DARK Warrior in 2004.
That healthy living all came to an end in 2005 when Akivia Wolf and Mark Cedric were deployed into The Great War, known today as a Third World War.
