Vomit Hound/ Nerve Damage
So been gone for about 10ish months now? Glad to be back(ish) and happy to say I don't stomach cancer or anything else terminal but oh boy it's not been the most fun and a bit to difficult diagnose. So a few years back I had to get my appendix removed after it had ruptured and it left behind some abdominal scaring which at the time was not a big issue. That was AT THE TIME though. Turns out I have celiac disease, which gets worse age.. So any time I would eat any gluten my intestines would swell and it would cause the scar tissue to agitate the vegus nerve ( which tiggers the vomit response ) making me vomit wildly for hours on end. I didn't know this at the time though, and the first year it started happening it just read as occasional food poisoning but it started getting more frequent. It eventually got frequent to point where I was vomiting for weeks straight at time in between being passed out from hyperventilating or exhaustion. Multiple times I've been in ER this year because of severe dehydration from not being able to hold down water. The chronic gut inflammation from the undiagnosed celiac disease had caused permanent nerve damage though and more or less shit was becoming unmanageable in any capacity. Of course it's not like it was easy to figure out either. It wasn't obvious on ct scan, it's not like it's going to show up on labs for bacteria/or viral testing either. Had to get a tube shoved down my throat at the gastrologist's to even find out about the celiac thing. Which holy shit, don't get me started on the headache to see a specialist when you don't have a primary care physician.
HOWEVER, now that we have it figured out it can at least be treated. Treatment is not ideal which is why I say I'm "back(ish)" while I am seeking alternative options, currently they have me on Scopolamine patches, which while they do work unfortunately give me blurry vision 2/3 days its in use and can lead to permanent acute glaucoma and regnal which can cause its own long term dopaminergic/neurological issues. So my ability to consistently work on anything at all has been pretty crippled say the least. Other than medications having a low residue/gluten free/low inflammation diet has been the most helpful at managing it.
TLDR : Vegus nerve damage induced Gastro Paresis and Celiac Disease and my meds suck.
