~NOT-FURRY
: not-furryicon : (without spaces) ->
Stamp/group for all furaffinity users who don't identify with the furaffinity society and aren't members of the furry subculture.
Because having an account here doesn't define you. You can join and use whatever website you want for whatever reason you want, especialy now when the "general-art" websites aren't doing well.
Anthropomorphic beings, including animals, have been part of general human culture for thousands of years, the furry subculture has started as late as in late 20th century.
Drawing anthros or having an animal-related alter-ego (or showing ANY kind and level of interest in anthropomorphic beings) does not automatically make anyone a member of the recent phenomenon the furry subculture is!
It cannot be forgotten that Furries have not invented anthropomorphic animals and they must not claim they own all the anthros of the past, present or the future. Anthros, bipedal or not, have existed and will continue to exist regardless of the Furry subculture and are an independent concept.
The furry subculture is only a small portion of all the anthro users across history and around the world.
"Furry is a subculture, identity - not a type of anthro.
Anthropomorphic animals have been a part of human culture since before ancient Egyptians and their gods (e.g. Anubis), Furry was established as late as in 1990s (some believe it started in 1965 which is still thousads of years after ancient Egyptians)." ~Anthro-not-furry
Besides, fantasy, anthro and animal artists and creators do not need to be furries to have furry audience, supporters, or clients in general, and to share their art on furry websites if it is welcome there - just like furries use non-furry websites as well. (Heck, even human art is welcome on FA after all, and more and more human-oriented artistis post their work on FA. It's high time to stop pretending that FA has only furry users and hating on people merely for not being part of a subculture.)
And, analogically, if you either have a mohawk haircut or hairdress mohawk haircuts on others, it does not automatically make you a Punk.
This icon was created especially for those who do not want to be considered furries for various reasons.
If you do not indentify as a furry, you are not one, period. Nobody has any right to make you and they are always wrong trying to force you to agree you are someone you are not! They will try though, for various reasons.
If YOU do not consider yourself a furry YOU are RIGHT: YOU know better who you are and who you are not.
If one ignores that and still calls you a furry, you can always ignore them meaningfully and (if it is on your page) even hide their comment everytime they miscall you a furry, or block if they harass you.
Furry is an identity of choice.
Bashing this icon or people for not being furries while enjoying anything related to anthro animals will result in an insta ban from this page.
Any callout journals/submissions found, will be reported and surely deleted as these are prohibited on FA.
! To all having a 'it's a FURRY SITE, if you're not a furry DON'T BE HERE' problem: !
Well, you cannot ban non-furry members from the site. They have the same right to use this art site like you do.
There is no single reason for people to join any particular website, people have various reasons, not just the same as you had. Keep that in mind and deal with it instead of mislabelling people.
Embrace the diversity!

Recent influx of human-oriented artists on FA
2 years ago
:)
In case you haven't noticed, there's been quite an influx of humanoid-oriented artists on FA quite recently. More and more non-furries use this website to share their art and it's high time to stop pretending this is an exclusively furry artsite and bearing your teeth at non-furries just because they don't identify with your subculture.
I suspect said influx of human artists and other non-furry fantasy and animal artists may be because there seems to be a crisis among the general-art websites: currently there are just few general-art websites and most of the existent ones are unreliable for various reasons (e.g. drive-away members, or lack funds or time or promotion), there's also quite a decline in places where NSFW artists can share their work, and safely.
So better get used to the idea that more and more of FA users you'll stumble upon, won't be belonging to the furry subculture. And that's ok.
And stop acting like we were your enemies just because we don't belong to your community and aren't into your lifestyle! We all still share a common interest - it's visual arts! Often also character oriented. (Meanwhile, instances of pure hate keep coming from just the furry side... they call us, non-furries, haters on principle, but the only hater we see is a few mob furries that have to be pacified every once in a while and bring a bad reputation to the furry community - furries were perceived as welcoming but this may change...)
We CAN coexist but it takes two to tango.
Peace.

It only becomes a problem when people start gatekeeping. And we all should know better than to do that.

I hate furries.
