New year, new...
... everything. Tl;dr, optimistically I will be able to be an artist again this year lmao.
This last year was crazy busy, I barely posted online and didn't draw much in private. It's why I have nearly no finished pieces to show since February. I intentionally took time away from art to handle my irl obligations, but creating is what keeps me sane!
Right now I'm going through the process of (hopefully) getting a new job with higher pay and predictable hours, the one I'm leaving got new management that refused to schedule around my school life. During the semester I would get stuck doing a 9+ hr closing shift, sleep for 5hrs, go to my classes on campus for 5hrs, and do another 9+ hr closer afterward.
I'm firmly deciding I'm not sacrificing my time and running on fumes again this year since I have better opportunities. Busting my ass paid for my college and car! But that shit suuuuuuucked. Grades fell, had to choose between friends and art, and my health suffered.
I'm hoping the consistent schedule and switching to a lighter online-only college courseload will help me in my endeavors of improving my work and increasing availability for taking commissions. Because I do enjoy bringing other people's ideas to life. And I'd like to continue building my portfolio. I want to try animation and incorporating texture, dynamic poses, and stylization into my art this year.
I'm excited to see how my work will develop with more time to put into it and a learning motivated mindset.
