Thoughts on "AI art"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOwxXj1EIXM Nailed it here but there are other good takes.
A while back when it was used for memes or cute anime avatars a lot of us didn't know any better or realize "how the sausage was made" but I've made my stance clear that I am against AI art and encourage people not to mess around with the stuff because its being used by predatory companies to put artists, writers and creators out of work leading to an outcome of content slop down the line.
This can be seen with one of the many reasons for the big writer and actor strikes that are ongoing which I support fully.
I understand people that aren't good at drawing see this as a quick means to bring a creation to life because its quick and easy and the convenience is how these sleezebags will sell casuals on this rancid ass content until it is completely normalized. I believe it needs to be pushed back with the same level we bagged on the NFT grift with because its being peddled by the same types of people as the new big craze.
People have to remember this stuff is trained on scalping the web for art, media and content in order to build its database. This is also a good reason there are currently ongoing legal cases against companies such as midjourney right now.
I understand people want convenience but it should never be at the stake of artists livelihoods, more so artists get fucked over pretty hard as it is without this being pushed on top.
Can I just say as well, even the "best" art AI and best is putting it lightly looks absolutely sterile and soulless.
We all want to bring our OCs, characters and stories to life but it should be done ethically plus doing it the right way is far more rewarding as I would rather my own works where created by other humans with passion and whose work has that spark in it.
Sometimes the right way isn't always the easy way but the long term rewards deep down are more worth it.
Comments are open but be civil if anyone acts like a git they will be shown the door.
