This profile is basically just an art deposit for my fursona commissions now. If I ever start doing photography again, or any other sort of art, I will probably post it somewhere else ^^
I typed up some info on my particular variety of hellhound! Check it out:
Hellhound Lore
Physical Appearance
This variety of hellhound usually presents with an overall canine body structure, combined with features typically associated with ungulates such as horns and hooves. The species usually has exaggerated or elongated body proportions.
They have a delicate horn structure that serves practically no defensive purpose and is thought to be mostly for display. The strength and appearance of the horns varies throughout the seasons and may even be dependent on mood and mindset. Chips, fractures, or breaks are more frequent during the colder seasons, or following a stressful event. Cracks have been observed to “heal” with a scar, sometimes golden in color initially, but tends to fade back to the horn’s natural color with time.
Fur patterns are highly variable, sometimes with two or more highly contrasting colors. Many fur patterns and colors exist and have been observed across different cultures and climates. Some hellhounds tend to undergo alterations to their fur patterns throughout time. These changes have been observed as a response to their state of mind, or even their surroundings.
Behavior
General mood and disposition is typically aloof and uncaring, but can become obsessively friendly and invested in others, situations, or things. Like dragons, some hellhounds collect “treasure” and other items of interest, often adorning their bodies, ears, or horns with jewelry and other objects of beautification. Some hellhounds have been observed to hold one or more trinkets in high regard. Trinkets can be objects of great value, or in many cases, objects with no value, cultural significance, or no clear Earthly origin at all. Trinkets are usually kept in close proximity by physical touch, but may simply “accompany” the individual through no discernible physical action or effort.
Biology
These hellhounds are an unlikely combination of biological traits which could be associated with predator or prey animals. Examples are typically bipedal and digitigrade, moderately androgynous, and usually with an adorable or whimsical appearance. Some, however, can appear quite frightening, uncanny, or even disturbing in appearance. Although commonly believed to be a hybrid of two or more species, their actual biology is distinct from any other animal. The species is believed to occupy its own unique evolutionary branch. Little is known of their evolution due to their curious absence from the fossil record.
Theories on Origin
Researchers have attempted to better make sense of the more poorly understood aspects of the species. Their distant, sarcastic nature makes direct study difficult. Some archaic texts hint that the species was descended from a mythological breed of hound which served a king or other royalty. These hounds were supernatural hunters of miscreants and were often set loose to hunt more mundane creatures for sport. Their howls were known to have been loudest at a distance, only to grow quieter as they came nearer to their prey.
One particular example, Seff, is well studied. Due to his white fur base and black spots, he has been affectionately dubbed a “cowolf” in honor of his dubious resemblance to a wolf and a Holstein cow.
Seff can typically be found on Telegram or at various conventions. Always interested in meeting a new creature, he is always interested in chatting and learning about potential new friends :3
