What a mess
Back in January, I made a journal saying everything was ready to go and happily announced that I'd be creating lots of fun new content with plans for this, that, and whatever may go over on the other account.
As you've probably guessed, that was overly optimistic.
Shortly after that journal, a family member ended up getting hurt, and needed help while they recovered. They're just now starting to get around on their own again, so I'm finally able to mess around with Daz Studio some more.
But that's not the only thing that created problems. Late last year, I was looking for things that would help me understand my characters better, and came across this branch of pop psychology called Jungian Archetypes. It sounded cool, and seemed to cover everything you'd ever need for ideas on how to design dynamic characters.
The problems with this began when I started trying to learn more about it.
Basically, Carl Jung came up with the basic idea of there being archetypal "people" that make the unconscious tick. The problem is that other psychologists have elaborated on the premise, and clickbait websites have taken these ideas and turn them into some sort of cross between Hogwarts houses and horoscopes.
In short, the "journalists" who've written about it online contradict each other at every turn - everybody is cribbing off everybody else and passing their work off as original research.
I still think this is a great idea for writing and designing characters, but I've had to track down where the system actually started and what the intended structure of the system was. That's taken a few months and several trips to the library to find the right books.
So yeah, it's been FUN.
