Am I the only one who thinks it's strange that humans are all lumped together as humans?
We don't all act the same. We don't all think the same. We certainly don't all behave the same.
Once upon a time people used to use such words like "Hello" and "Hi" to greet someone.
Today while working my co-workers choose to greet each other by using profanities.
They did it in front of a room full of people and no one so much as raised an eyebrow. It happens so much that it is apparently the new accepted form of greeting.
Which brings up another point.
Rules.
Oh sure the company I work for, just like every other company, have them. Seriously, how often are they equally enforced? If one person does something the rules are ignored. If another put in the same situation did the exact same thing suddenly it's a problem because then the rules are enforced.
If I had greeted one of my co-workers like they choose to greet each other I'm quite certain I would have been pulled into the plant managers office for a very unpleasant meeting at which point I would have been reminded about their rules regarding the use of profane language.
It's enough to make me wonder if Humans really are the most intelligent species on Earth. There are animals that can be trained to do things in less time than what it takes to teach my co-workers that they have to show up from their breaks on time.
There are animals that discipline their young. Clearly there are rules the young were supposed to follow and they were corrected for not following them. It's one step further than my employer took when given the chance.
There are things animals will not eat. They know they're not food. Humans, on the other hand, are stupid enough to put things like Tide-pods in their mouths and wonder why it's a problem.
After having my shift to consider things I did find one sole area where humans and animals are equal in their stupidity.
Next time you're on the road look at all the dead animals on the side of the road. Those animals crossed the road in front of traffic and got hit.
Humans aren't smart enough to pull their cars out into traffic after having looked to see if it was safe to do so. Instead they just assume you'll slow down and protect them from their own stupidity no matter how close you are to them when they choose to pull out.
Beyond that sole area I haven't found where animals are the lesser species on Earth. For better or worse animals have rules and follow them. Humans can't make that claim.
