Fan Expo 2018 & Beyond
Hey all,
Long time no post, but I haven't really been involved in the art world in a while. I know I said I'd open for commissions and become more active, but between work and my own personal mental health, I haven't been able to enjoy sitting down and working on things.
Butttttt I spent money on another table, managed to poop out one more piece, so yep, I will be at Fan Expo this year at Table A32 in the Artist Alley in the South Building (top left hand corner of the floorplan map). If any of you are going, feel free to say hi. I look forward to seeing new and familiar faces there.
Going to try out one last year of Fan Expo before potentially calling it quits. Last year was not as profitable as the ones before it, and the prices of the table keep going up, even if you preregister on site. It's a little ridiculous. That corner of the building has nothing going on either, so there is not a lot of foot traffic throughout the weekend in that section. It's getting to the point where it's not worth the hassle and not worth taking unpaid time off work to prepare for this con. I'll see how it goes and I might squeeze out one more year in 2019, but I have a feeling it's coming to an end. It's sad, because Fan Expo is my favourite con to go to, but the costs are getting ridiculous, especially for artists.
Plus, as I mentioned earlier, art is just something that hasn't come naturally to me in a while. I've finally moved after stressing out over this purchase for the last few years, so I'm hoping things calm down. Maybe it'll all come back after my new studio space is setup. At the same time, I've been dealing with some personal crap for so long, and I keep trying to come back and do art without solving the problem. So, I'm going to look at reaching out for help, getting my shit sorted out, and see where I go from there.
I can't promise I'll be open for commissions any time in the near future, and I can't promise that I'll be back at FE in 2019. When I try to please people and be there and make promises without bettering myself or the problem... it's where I just dig myself into a deeper hole in regards to mental health...
So I'll post when I can, and see you guys when I can see you. Hopefully it won't be too long.
Huge thank you to everyone that has been patient with me and offered their support over the past while.
