What Does The Fox Say? (Style parody of Herb Alpert & TJB)
Cover of the famous (infamous?) Ylvis song. Theme music for the Megaplex 2014 game show of the same name, to give it that Bob Eubanks feel (though Gene Rayburn actually hosted "Match Game", which is the actual basis for the Megaplex show). Thumbnail courtesy of wildbilltx.
I actually was a trumpet major in college and first picked the instrument up because of the Tijuana Brass records lying around the house when I was a kid, so I've always wanted to attempt something like this track. Great fun, what can I say? Ring ding ding.
By the way... I can't find "fox" anywhere in the species list. Have they been given a time-out, or what?

Thank you so much! I meant to ask you at the con about getting a download of this song. I instantly recognized the Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass parts. Very groovy! I'm going on 13 years with trumpet playing myself! ^^ Would love to play this arrangement!
I actually didn't do much arranging, some hastily scribbled notes and chord symbols on the fly. But I could do a "music minus one" mix for you, with everything but the lead trumpet?
Thats actually would be amazing! I have quite a few musician friends who would also probably really like this piece. "trombone, trumpet, horn, etc.
I spent far to long watching your avatar looking like it was playing....
You can find "fox" listed as "Canid - Vulpine."
Also, fun rendition!

They tricked me! Can't they remember that I'm a bear of very little brain?
Perhaps the list was set up by a donkey, given how asinine it appears at times. *rimshot*
catchy... me likes.
kinda reminds me of "The Fox Meets Metal" by 331Erock on youtube (only less... metaly)

Hm, I grew up listening to Kiss - I COULD do metal, but SHOULD I?
*Snorts* to metal or not to metal... is that even a question?
lol, I was referencing this video, btw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eEwh0RoazM
but seriously, I liked your version, it was catchy, having growed up in the 70's and early 80's I remember a LOT of T.V. shows who's music this reminded me off

Two great tastes (well, we know at least one is) that taste great together. Well done, Rhubarb!
(channeling Johnny Jacobs) From the Truck Bearis stages in Orlando, Florida—here come the foxes!

I've determined that even people who hate the song hate it in a very loving way.
What a spot on style parody. Sounds great. I have to pull out my copy of "Whipped Cream And Other Delights".
Thanks for posting this! I may use it in my forthcoming Megaplex 2014 video!
You know they were quite popular in the 60's which works for Fangcon. :) Now how about some spanish flea? A great furry song for canines
It is great seeing you post music again too.

Seeing your icon here makes me wonder what it would sound like if you sing this song

Herb Alpert meets Ylvis. Yet you made it work. Made it sound awesome. Damn you're good. XD
Haha! Really great. Mix is super crisp and clean. What's the marimba source? It sounds really good. Such an important instrument to me, was my primary focus in college.
It's the marimba from EWQLSO, actually! Close mics. Wish it had a few more velocity layers but it sure did the trick for me this time! Do you have an actual marimba lying around?
I wish I did. I've considered talking to local band directors about some instrument time if they'd be so kind ;)
The marimba does sound nice on EWQL. I don't have the close mics so it's very wet. Plus wish they went to low C on a 5 octave marimba. The kontakt 4 marimba does and has a slightly warmer sound but the EWQL has lots more resonance and tone.
I've been thinking about the marimba all day heh. Funny. I played some pretty cool stuff back in the day. Would love to get it going again.

was tapping my foot with the beat every time they started playing it during that game.
Love your rendition!
Love your rendition!
Was rad listenin' to this! totally want to play it some day!
This is excellent! It's been an ear worm ever since I got back from Megaplex! :)
Oh wow! I really hate I missed this at the con. Amazing job! This definitely takes me back to my inner band-dork in school. I definitely miss playing trumpet/baritone. Keep up the good work, bear!
I think it needed more Latin percussion, like maracas, but overall I really liked this!
Great job. The first album I ever owned was "South Of The Border" by Herb Alpert and The Tijuana Brass (on vinyl). My Grandma had it (I'm 60 now, I'm not sure how old I was. It had come out a few weeks before my birthday) She bought it for me. What's odd, is years later I started to listen to "Captain Beefheart" and he started on the same label.
This is a super cool cover of the song. Well played. :) I just had to check out your FA profile after I met you at Eurofurence. ;)
God, I love you.
I think this is the best cover I've heard of this to date.
This one's going in my collection. My wife's gonna love it.
